Just the way things are I guess. The Thunder have never won one, but if they do get ready for the best team ever talk because their regular season is on that path. I don’t mind them being overlooked, this team is too grounded to get a big head though. As a Thunder fan this is beyond fun to watch.
If they roll through the postseason with little resistance we may have to consider them in that grouping

To me the resistance won’t matter, the list of things they are going to end up doing in the regular season is just unreal. The multiple things they lead the league in, especially on defense. They are going to have more double digit wins than any team in history and every team with close to as many has won the title. It all adds up to a hell of a lot of pressure but I think these guys are built for it. Let’s go Thunder.

And yet, it's not the 2016 Warriors and their 73 wins that people consider possibly the greatest team ever. The postseason matters for that. If they go 16-3 that's on the table, 16-11 is something else

Ok well I’m not arguing this now, bad juju. But a title means a serious discussion will be had.

Agreed, and how much they dominate the postseason is a factor in that discussion

To be honest they seem quite capable of 16-3

I’m not sure anyone outside of people around here fully see the body of work in the regular season. The numbers within the numbers are staggering. All that matters is a title though, I don’t care if they go 7 games in every series, though that would not be good for how they are built.

16 and anything will be good enough.

The problem is if they don’t get to 16

You think? I’d be interested in what you think could do them in because right now resistance seems futile. I agree it’s a problem if they don’t, very few have things fall into place like this team has.

Obviously they need to win a title after a year like this, I'm just saying to be in that 'best team ever' list with the 1996 Bulls and 2017 Warriors and so on you need to dominate in the postseason too, wouldn't you agree?

You've been told many times the only things that can maybe stop OKC is youth and relative playoff inexperience...I think they will get the title but that's the only thing that can stop them. Boston, for example, can also defend, has title experience, and can shoot a million 3s and possibly beat them in the finals.

Injuries can get anyone.

I also think a more experienced team like Boston could potentially get them.

But for where they are now?

When we are looking back in like 2035 I think anything less than 2 titles will be a disappointment.

This really has the look of a budding dynasty.

For sure.

I guess I didn’t realize we were doing that.

Even 16-0 I can’t put them at that level.

Maybe in 5 years if this is their best group from a 3+ title core then maybe.

But that is what it would take for me.

Yeah I wasn’t talking in terms of dynasty, I’m talking about one season only. A title added to the massive regular season accomplishments would be huge. But there isn’t much without the title.

I know these conversations about all time great teams are for a single season only.

But all of those teams in the conversation have multiple titles that kind of validate the most dominant one.

I do believe without that, right or wrong, all their amazing accomplishments this year won’t be viewed in the same light as the ‘96 Bulls and other truly great teams.

Maybe that’s human nature, but the list is pretty staggering. Very in fact.

Indeed that is true. And that is one reason I often press for a return to the integrity of the game much to the same pressing Shaq and Kareem still express today.

Even Shaq and Kareem are miles apart in appreciation for the game. Shaq is the "I'll rehab on company time" guy, not the same level of dedication of a player like KAJ.
