Not good for the Suns that the Nuggets won and Murray had a terrible game. He won't have another game like that in this series.

KD being injured screwed them. Heading into the playoffs they had 8 games together. You can’t figure out how these guys will play together in that amount of time. Playoff time isn’t off about bench. Staters are regularly playing 38-42 minutes each night. The Suns have issues but the bench doesn’t even make the top 5 list for them.

I think it’s over. He was their best option to hunt the midrange with Jokic in no man’s land. They don’t have that now. Gonna be tough. Suns time is next year.

When the trade went down I said the Suns bench was a weakness.....

I was told no.....I love it when I am right.

They didn't really have a bench before the trade. Crowder wasn't playing. If you look at the trade for KD, it was Bridges (starter), Cam Johnson (bench), and Crowder (not playing) for KD (starter) and TJ Warren (bench). Now Johnson is better than Warren, but not enough to be making a difference over this playoff run. One guy isn't gonna boost your entire bench. Like @fightinfunbags said, the thing that screwed them the most was KD being hurt so long to where they could workout their chemistry in time before the playoffs. But the Suns haven't had a bench all year. When Booker was out, they were hovering around the play in spots because of it. Post-KD trade they were always gonna be a 4 man team that needed all 4 guys to play well in order to win, which was do-able if they were healthy. They aren't right now though.

FWIW though, they do need bolster the bench (primarily PG) in the offseason. It's too hard to make a trade like they did and find guys on buyouts to boost you bench in season, but in the offseason, they'll be able to navigate finding players that fit the team better on exceptions, vet mins, and guys looking to ring chase.

Game one KD had 29 on 12 of 19 shooting (Booker 27 on 19 shots) and the Suns still lost by 18.

The Nuggets might be a bad match up for them.

But they are more than capable of winning games 3 & 4.

It works though. Coaches wouldn’t do this shit if it wasn’t rewarded. He’ll get a good whistle tonight because of this.

Also, if I’m Book’s head coach, I play it this way as well. I tell him, “I’ve got you. This is my job, let me do it and you do your job.” It seems like Book has a tendency to get a little too much James Harden on drives to the lane grifting for fouls and begging instead of prioritizing the finishing of the layup in traffic. What you could be seeing is Monty coming through on that promise because he doesn’t want Book getting in his own head. Just an opinion. But also…I love Monty and wish the Sixers fired Brett Brown earlier and promoted Monty instead of waiting, firing Brown anyway after he fucked the Jimmy/Simmons decision and then acquired Horford.
