So for just being all-in on Julio from Day 1 we get an extra (valuable?) pick and Baltimore gets 0 benefit (including not getting the extra year) for holding Rutschman back, trying to save a year of player control? That is hilarious.

I'm sure they were provisions in the CBA that the player's association pushed for. Incentivizes teams not holding back their players to delay paying them.It is weird. I don't get the reasoning behind it.
