I would not even hesitate. I think it would cost a lot more to be honest with you. I think Kelenic would have to be included if they still want him. If not, another top arm. I would throw in Toro just because.@NWinAZ @wazzu31 @SeattleCoug
I was just reading Corey Brock's mailbag and he proposed this trade, curious what you guys think:
Pirates receive:
- Jesse Winker
- Chris Flexen
- Emerson Hancock
Mariners receive:
- Bryan Reynolds
- Ji Hwan Bae
I don't know much about Bae, but I'd do this in a heartbeat as I love Reynolds and it seems as if Bae has some potential.

Bae originally agreed to sign with the Braves in 2017, but had the deal voided as part of Atlanta’s penalty for international signing violations. That allowed the Pirates to sign him for $1.2 million in the spring of 2018. Things haven’t always gone smoothly, as a conviction for assaulting his former girlfriend in Korea led to a 30-game suspension in 2019. He came back to hit .323 and win a batting title in his first taste of full-season ball and then after playing at the club’s alternate site, he jumped up to Double-A and performed well there, missing time due to a sprained knee, capping it off with a solid showing in the Arizona Fall League.
The two things that will carry Bae to the big leagues are his speed and his ability to make contact. He stole 28 bases between Altoona and the AFL last year and the Pirates have challenged him to use his close to top-of-the-scale speed to swipe 40 bags in 2022. Bae draws a good amount of walks and limits his strikeouts, putting the ball in play at a very high clip and letting his legs do the work. He’ll never be confused for a power hitter, but he has added strength and showed the ability to impact the ball more in 2021.
Originally a shortstop, Bae started seeing more time at second in 2019 and then played there almost exclusively for most of the 2021 season. The Pirates started folding in center field, both in the regular season and in the AFL, with the plan for him to get reps in both spots and a potential future role as a utility type.
