Seems like Jack's ERA has been steadily declining for a few weeks

Seager’s defense is middle of the road. There’s about 14 guys better and 15 guys worse.
I’ll take his defense and .800+ OPS all day..

Lowe on the other hand.. is 39th out of ranked 1B defense.. love his bat, but he needs to be full time DH. Love to have him stick around as part of the future.. at DH

I said many times during the off-season I thought he would be a very good hitter with a .800+ OPS.. he was my “rangers surprise player this year”

The good thing is that Lowe would pretty much rank out as a top three DH if you go off of OPS.

In his last 3 starts his ERA is 3.60. Not great, but definitely a step in the right direction.

I think he makes the club him and Miller next year as utility bench roles. Complementary pieces. Injury may have hurt Miller. I don’t want him starting but don’t want to throw him a way and doubt if he blocks anybody even rule 5 from the bench.
CF Eli White might become expendable since we have Bubba who is a better base runner all things else close to equal

Did not think I would get a consensus especially re a block of a player

So you would rather have White over Miller?

Would have though some other prospect would have been projected over White if we are protecting players rule 5

yes i would prefer White over Miller. White will have value later on if we decide to trade.

Miller would clear a roster spot as would Howard, Allard, Solak, Ibanez and several others. with the Free Agents (Culbertson, Moore, Calhoun (pass on option), Leclerc (pass on option) & Arihara) plus those above we clear between 9 and 12 spots for adding those we need to protect + 2 or 3 pitching Free Agents

This might be the foundation we need to begin to decide who we would like to keep.

One factor re Roster additions to me is what depth do we want at AAA or maybe AA for legitimate callups in case of injury. If there is no way will call them up next year unless they really are a super prospect then we sit worry about protecting them.
Of course a trade or two might thin it out and land us someone we like

King is guy the Yanks likes. He can be moved. If we move Lowe to DH then unless Garver is healthy maybe we move him. He had a good eye at the plate and has more value as a catcher

Still wondering how Duran fits on the everyday lineup next year too despite some concern re Jung squeezing him in mgr eyes

He will be part of one of those type of decisions that I have said before will determine if we simply have good teams over the next 5 or 6 years, or if we have great WS caliber teams eventually. At times, that will require the Rangers to part ways with adequate to good performing players in order to make room for a player that they feel could be a good to great players.

Kind of like the decision to trade Kinsler that backfired when Profar got hurt. At the time it was the right decision though. They just shouldn't have traded him for Prince.

Kelly I would put higher. That to me means you clear 10 spots at a minimum
