Well, if we are going to use hindsight we should wait a few years on those 3 guys we traded. The least ranked of the three guys has an OPS of .870 in High A ball as a 21 year old this year.

So I guess not yet time to reevaluate

Not enough time for either side.

I would rather evaluate a trade at the time of the trade anyway. Anyone can use hindsight later on, but in this case, hindsight right now, is premature.

I wouldn't hold my breath that the lineup will start being better just because Miller and Calhoun sat today. I think that was all due to scheduling where they got in late one day and had an afternoon game the next day.

Y'all think Semien and Seager will be better next year?
Have been pretty disappointed with Semien. A bit so with Seager though he still has an 800 OPS and is likely to have 30+ HRs.

I think so. They both have shown better defense. Seager has more errors than Lowe so he will strive to be better. Semien has had too many also. Like Seager I believe he will improve. At least they are not our biggest problem so along with Lowe and Adolis they will carry the team on offense

Due to his history, I never thought we would get more than 2 or 3 really good years from him. His signing is what happens when your money is burning a hole in your pocket. Not as bad as the Chan Ho signing, but probably our second worst long term free agent signing.

Position-wise I have wondered about swapping Seager and Semien, personally. Semien used to be known as an excellent defensive SS. IKF's defense as SS spoiled me.

Between Lowe and Seager going to have to choose which one's poor defense can be tolerated.
I'd probably put Lowe at DH, Semien at SS and Seager at 2B/1B (think he might make a better defender at 1B than Lowe).

Seager’s defense is middle of the road. There’s about 14 guys better and 15 guys worse.
I’ll take his defense and .800+ OPS all day..

Lowe on the other hand.. is 39th out of ranked 1B defense.. love his bat, but he needs to be full time DH. Love to have him stick around as part of the future.. at DH

I said many times during the off-season I thought he would be a very good hitter with a .800+ OPS.. he was my “rangers surprise player this year”
