Me either. But it does have me a little curious now just to see how legit the source seems. lol
Just did a quick Google search and it looks like first link of Lakers Hornets was from Marc Stein and now the reinvigoration of the idea is coming from Kevin O’Connor of the Ringer.

I still don’t understand how Lakers can add salary when they’re over the cap but I’ll also admit I’m no expert when it comes to the nuances of the cap.

I would imagine rozier actually goes somewhere to a team with real assets and the lakers get more expiring contracts

Yep. Lakers aren't getting Rozier. That ain't happening.

And that would be fine but they don't need to dump Rozier to move him. Hayward they need to dump to move him.
Hornets desperately need a big. Why wouldn’t they use a guy like Rozier, if they’re trading him, to try and get in on Ayton sign and trade? For 3 years 75 million?

Rozier is a better player than PJ though lol. So we are trading Rozier to pay a worse player the same amount of money?

Because trading him for RW is basically giving him away.

I would assume they would also be getting picks, but I still dont think thats enough to include Rozier. If Rozier being included is real, this has to be MJ driven. I dont think Mitch Kupchak would do this, but he also is unlikely to stand up to MJ and tell him to keep Rozier.

Definitely a starting point for sure. I'm not sure what a S and T looks like for Ayton honestly. It all depends on who can give the best deal. Its obviously not a 1 for 1 type trade usually.

Maybe Rozier banged his new wife. Idk

Because, they have CP and Book playing guard? Plus Mikal Bridges and he's 6-6....you want 4 guys starting under 6-6?

Just did something on the trade machine that allows Charlotte to dump major salary:
Hornets get RW
Sixers get Hayward and Plumlee
Lakers get Tobias Harris Furkan Korkmaz and James Bouknight

Trade worked with the trade machine.
3 bad contracts getting moved. Sixers and Lakers get a better fit with a bad contract coming in that fits better. Hornets only take on the expiring of RW for one year that sets up their extensions.

So, semi-credible sources.

Im not a cap expert either. I know that Westbrook hasnt opted in and there are some 1 year deals that will expire as well. So they may be able to do that and have it get their salaries low enough to be able to take that much back. Or maybe what was reported was just the meat and potatoes and the Lakers would also have to throw in THT or Nunn or someone.

It’s a sign and trade so Ayton has a big say in where he wants to play and Scary Terry could be 6th man of the year. CP3 isn’t getting any younger. Suns also like to go small with Bridges being able to play some small ball 4.

Fuck no.

Harris making almost 41 mill the last year of his deal ('23-24).

It kind of feels like a version of the Kyrie thing. We couldnt rule out Kyrie leaving $30 million on the table to get away from the Nets because he is the one guy crazy enough to do it...

and we cant rule out Rozier being included because its MJ. lol

DJ doesn’t. Seems he’d rather the Lakers play out the string and watch LeBron opt out and leave.

Harris fits way better than RW and it lines up with Lebron's clock.

Not to mention you could possibly move him as an expiring the following year.

The problem with RW is he is not a player who will sit like Wall did and his presence is so dominant. In a bad way. Harris isnt.

How do you take on salary when you’re already over the cap? I thought that was only possible through the midlevel?

Trades have to match at like 80%.

So it really only has to get close to matching. The over cap team can take on extra salary as long as what they send out gets within the matching threshold.

THT is not an asset anymore.

That ship has sailed. I wouldn’t label him a bad contract necessarily, but there just isn’t a lot of upside there.

They need to turn tht nunn and a first for a better fit

More fun is the lakers taking Hayward and Harris while moving rw tht and nunn contract wise

Some picks definitely move Around here too
