Won't be that big of a deal? You have been adamant the Seahawks won't trade for him.

LOL.
Right? He has said he didn't want Baker for a long time and he was essentially garbage. The thing is Baker is way better than Geno or Lock and it isn't close. This would be a good move-no risk for Seattle. It's a no-brainer

you got to remember. He has only had one healthy season with a decent coach in his career. He has won with some pretty shitty coaching.
I think ol' Pete would be a good mix with Baker.
I think he is a midpack starter. Not top 10, but also not bottom 10.
Somewhere in the 15-16 range. Maybe 13-15.

Way better then Geno or Drew.

IF they want to win no doubt.....but I can understand wanting to tank and having no need for Baker.

Butchered it by going after a top tier QB many others wanted? I mean, just because we haven't heard it on IG doesn't mean Baker and the FO have not had the conversations you suggest they'd need to have.
My only disagreement here is the word "many".

Many? I mean...no. A few, for sure. More than just Cleveland, absolutely. But, only 1 team was willing to hitch its wagon to Watson like the Browns did with the draft picks AND 100% guaranteed contract.

I'd say just being willing to offer the picks the Browns did means those teams were very interested. would they have gone as far as the Browns did? Not sure, but guess is no.

Yeah, the best duo of receivers he's ever had.

And if he plays well? Seattle will lock him up long term.
I could see it since if he plays well it likely means he played them out of a top pick, though they would have ammo to move up.

Again - my issue was just with the word "many"...I think there were only 4 teams...that's 1/8 of the league - not many.

Might be wrong, but is this deal being 100% guaranteed a bit overblown? I mean, Mahomes' deal was pretty much the same deal (but he has 5 additional years that would not be guaranteed). Will say Mahomes body of work more deserving, of course, but he was also on a better team.

Fair enough...but those are only the teams we know offered enough for Houston to accept their offer and allow the meeting. Could have been more who were interested.

I don't think it is in this context because Watson initially told Cleveland: No.

The only thing that changed was the contract offer from Cleveland. Without that guarantee - he's not in Cleveland.

Maybe, but I think there's a difference between 6-8 teams kicking the tires and 4 teams who were really interested enough to offer enough to be seriously considered.

No disagreement there, and in fact I was wrong. Thought Mahomes had a guarantee well over $200 mil. May "only" be 150 mil.

I still don't want him and don't believe any trade happens with the Seahawks. However as long as any trade is dirt cheap no big deal.

Also Mayfield would have little to no impact with the Seahawks because he just a bridge QB at best and will end up being another journeyman QB. Book that.

Damn really? He's never thrown for 4,000 yard or 30 TD's in a season. What do you think his completion percentage will be?

Who knows, but I would be shocked if he did that and I'm guessing if any team that needed a good QB thought he'd come close to that, his $19M salary wouldn't be a deterrent.
He never had 17 games. He would almost certainly have hit 4K in 2018 and 2019 with 17 games - just needed 75 yds for the other three starts in 2018 and 175 in the last start in 2019.

He'd also have hit 30 TDs with just one per extra game in 2018, and had 29 in 17 games in 2020 if you count the first playoff game.

I'm expecting him to be a bit more driven and focused, and a shade more mature. And healthier than last year's debacle (playing hurt isn't leadership if you're not effective, it's just dumb).

Even if you include his injured year he averaged 235.4 yards and 1.56 TDs a game which gives almost exactly 4K yards in 17 games, and 26.5 TDs. That's just an average season for him if he starts every game.

If teams were hesitating on Mayfield, maybe it's because he's inconsistent, might not be fully recovered, and the Browns have no leverage and few suitors.

Three teams could really use him this year: Seattle, Carolina and the Browns.
