Um, you do know that was a planned lay down by Kerr, right? Everything will be better for game 5.

I mean I know you're joking but there's absolutely no reason to get cute with a closeout game. Considering the injuries the Warriors have and also the age of their core players, they could use all the extra rest days possible. They need to close this out in game 5.

There no counter for Kleber being on the bench. Sure he played 22 minutes that game, but he was on the bench!!!!!!!!!

I'm not joking even one bit. There was no way they were winning that game and they really weren't trying

I agree about game 5, no more bullshit. They will.

Thinking the Warriors intentionally didn't give a shit about the game is about a bad a take as there is around here.

That's your right as an American.

"Didn't give a shit" is too strong. Didn't try that hard to win is more like it. This happened vs Denver too. It happens almost every time the higher seed goes up 3-0. I'm not saying something revolutionary here

I get that the Warriors did what the Warriors do when they are rolling and feel like they have a series/game under control and throttled down.

But man, that just seems like playing with fire. Especially with Steph and Klay's recent injury history.

No one plans to lay down. I doubt the Mavs pull this out, but you put an end to the series as soon as you can.
Mavs got 1, what if 1 turns into 2, and 2 into 3?

Am I the only one who's watched how series usually go when a team gets up 3-0?

Maybe but most teams do it

Yeah. No team has come back from down 3-0 to win a series. But 3 have come back to tie a series. Eventually one will win that 7th game. They'll do it by taking a 1 game at a time approach.

Pretty sure I gotta better chance of being the next mayor of Boulder, CO. than the Mavs beating the Warriors four straight.

Tell that to the 2004 Yankees.

Once in baseball. (giants came back from down 0-2 in a best of 5)

twice (??) in NHL

Never in NBA
Yes, it's rare, but pre 2004 it was also never in baseball.

I don't think the Mavs have a snowballs chance in hell, but until as long as they aren’t knocked out, they have a chance.

I don't care what you think you're watching, teams want ro close out the series in as few games as possible.
On paper, yes.

But in the gut, it is natural to lay off the gas a bit in that situation. The team that is down has a survival instinct kick in while the team that is up relaxes too much.

It isn’t necessarily consciously intentional, but it certainly is subconsciously explainable.

Absolutely. The Dubs had the finals sewn up in ‘17 (??). And the Thunder had the Dubs beat in the WCF as well.

This is funny to me. This is why you don’t chirp after beating some Phoenix ass.

Luka is a great player but he still has work to do on Both ends

If you can't see the difference in how the Warriors approached game 4 from how they did games 1-3 (and will do game 5) I don't know what to tell you. Again, I'm not saying something crazy here.

I don't know how to look this up but I would guess if the home team in a series is down 3-0 they win game 4 probably 80% of the time.
