Here is one assessment of one of the Late Round moves that the Rams made and in my mind they screwed-the-pooch in who they selected with those two picks. If the Rams wanted an EDGE or an ILB, they had plenty of opportunities to trade down in the Fourth Round and pick up two picks to get their Secondary player they wanted and a better LB than Hardy.

Then when they did trade down in the Sixth Round with Tampa, they should have taken Thayer Munford or Rasheed Walker and then Arturi with those two Seventh Round picks.

But one of the reasons they didn't was because, as Snead put it, they were focused on Secondary players. When you have had as many successes as McSnead have had, there is the potential to get your ego inflated thinking everything you do will be gold.

Everyone is beginning to see that is not the case.

I agree mostly with this PFF assessment. The Rams wasted a pick on Hardy and that pick should have been from one of three O-lineman: Munford, Walker, or Mitchell. Shoot the Rams could have had Salyer in the 6th Round but whiffed. The Rams should now go sign Kenny Young back along with Natrez Patrick both unsigned and unavailable from the Broncos.

Yeast was the head-scratcher for me. At least Hardy put up some solid stats, but man is he small for an Edge.

Both of those picks are now getting major criticisms for the same sort of criteria that you and others are applying here. There is a modicum of the Atwell disease here. McSnead have this internal aversion towards big players or at least ones that are rated higher than the so-called "gems" the two of them seem to find or think they find each and every draft!! They do coach people up to a higher level than they are rated coming out of college but then they have to fill in the gaps by mortgaging future draft capital to bring in proven elite players like Von Miller.

This process is going to be accelerated when a guy like Von Miller leaves or say AD retires. Then they are stuck because now their level of elite players is lower than the trash picks they seem to want to believe exists in these so-called gems. They can get what they want by ceasing the process and at least getting better players earlier when they become available in a given draft rather than ignoring them for people like Yeast and Hardy.

Daniel Hardy LB

40 Yrd Dash: 4.69
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 20
3-Cone Drill: 6.71
Vertical Jump: 40

These are pro day results but that’s still super fast 3 cone and 40” vert is no joke. Im thinking a special teams ace and OLB maybe he sees some time at ILB

Decobie Durant ran his 40 at the combine and the rest of those stats are from his pro day. Obviously a super fast guy and had two interceptions against Clemson this year. Check out this guy on YouTube and what Deion Sanders said about him

40 Yrd Dash: 4.38 at combine
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 11
Vertical Jump: 36
3-Cone Drill: 7.02

Derion Kendricks was a DNP in the combine and pro day. Solid athlete and had 2 INTs in the BCS semifinals against Michigan.

This one could be really good but he needs to stay out of trouble.

Kyren Williams RB. I like this pick. This kid had some big-time games against big-time competition

40 Yard Dash: 4.65. Combine
40 yard dash: 4.54 pro day
Bench Press: DNP
Vertical Jump: 32. Combine
3 cone: 6.94 pro day

It seems to me that this draft for the rams was full of gems that slipped down the board which is awesome

They were limited in what they could do to start and did make some interesting selections. Not maybe who we thought they would/should be looking at, but that's the mystery of the draft and the danger of mock drafts lol.

Here is what the Rams do. They don't do the combine and seldom do they do Pro Days. I wonder about McSnead and their choosing to avoid alot of the grind-it-out work that teams do to scout players. But they do watch the Shrine Bowl and the Senior Bowl and they go from there. APparently that's it. What else do the scouts do all year? Do they have have a scouting department? Who knows at this juncture.

You don’t find guys like Cooper Kupp, Greg Gaines, Ernest Jones, David Edward, SJD, Jordan Fuller without a good scouting department.

Rams cannot attend pro days where they like a hidden gem becasue that would tip another team off. The rest of nfl is watching the Rams closely.

Also it seems like they take more a simple approach VS over analyzing.

Read an article recently that said Manning is responsible for the Rams drafting Cooper Kupp.

Kupp went to Manning’s camp and he told his brother Eli that he could take whatever WR he wanted, but Peyton was taking Kupp.

Snead heard this and didn’t even know who Kupp was. From then on, they watched Kupp and he was on the Rams radar. That’s what lead them to take Kupp in the 3rd round.

Also read the Ravens we’re set to take Kupp in the 3rd, but the Rams took him 5 picks earlier.

I also think the combine is overrated.

Everyone looks at 40 times when these guys are in shorts and t-shirts and starting from a track stance.

Guys should be in full gear and start in whatever starting position they play position ( ie WR standing up, linemen in down position, etc. ).

Makes no sense to test these guys not in full gear, and not in a track starting position unless it’s linemen that actually play that way. WR’s and RB’s, DB’s etc are never starting from that position.

I suppose that is why McSnead prefer to see how potential picks play against their peers in a real game situation then they add data like 40 times from Pro Days and the Combines, ALR. That's how we got Notebooom and Edwards. Havenstein and Edwards lobbied hard for Bruss this year and voila, he was the First pick in the Third Round.

The year before, McSnead had interviewed Humphreys in LA along with Quinn Meinerz and Menet from Penn State and we were certain one of them would be selected in the 2nd Round. And we know the rest of that story.

I don't think they will ever pull that dumbshit again although they got close this year's draft when they reached on Hardy instead of taking one of three big O-lineman that WERE available in the 6th and 7th Rounds before they selected Hardy.

They pulled the midget RB dumbshit again by letting Michel walk, keeping Atwell, and drafting another midget RB. I take back the post where I stated I didn't think the McDumbshits would do the Atwell mess again. They did in a slightly different twist and now all we have at running back are midgets once again.

Akers is listed at 5'10, 217 whereas Michel is 5'11, 216. Jones and Henderson are 208. Kyren is a bit smaller at 199, but still not midget. Calais is the lightest at 188 and who knows if he's anything more than a special teamer or even makes the roster. The midget RB statement isn't accurate IMO.

WE have no running backs in the 6'0 and above, 220-240lb range, Shopson. We have not had one since Steven Jackson (who was a legit 6'2, 236lbs. Even ED was 6'3, 220lbs when he played). Midget backs are under 5'11, 210lbs. Akers ain't that big (LAst year he played most of the season at 209lbs) and Michel might be that size but AT THE TIME, he was our biggest back. Is that accurate enough for ya?? Man, sometimes I wonder what you are seeing and then your comebacks are just flippin' unbelievable.
