Expanse is done, right? I have been waiting on the current season for it to finish before I tackle it. I will do the same with Billions. Not a huge fan of the big change to the show from last season to this season, but I am keeping an open mind to it.

Expanse had the finale.

I'd thought Lewis just sat out while his wife was dying. I don't pay attention to a lot of stuff.

I have no idea about the back story. If that is the story behind his “leaving”, he absolutely made the right decision.

But from the pov of a show viewer, major cast changes are rarely a good thing.

My wife and I thought about a drinking game, take a shot every time Ruth says f#ck. We decided against it because we probably wouldn't make it through a single episode.

Like the Pulp Fiction drinking game.

You chug an entire beer before the opening credits.

And the OD scene will put you in the hospital.

So it's like an R rated Melrose place?

I looked it up and suspect I'm going to pass.

I was about to track you down and smack you upside the head thinking you were passing on Ozark and calling it fucking Melrose place.

With proper reading, I see we are discussing Euphoria. Yes.......pass. Your life and time are far too valuable.

Well I enjoyed the heck out of this series. The Breaking Bad vibe where folks go from normal citizens and then become criminals is a great hook to get your interest. I've heard some complaints about Jonah character being wooden and that's true but over all the show had some outstanding characters and actors. I was impressed with how Wendy could paste a warm smile, friendly eyes and that tilt of the head that won over folks even though it wasn't real and often under trying circumstances. Ruth of course was great as someone who was white trash at the beginning but actually a good person at heart in many ways and that frown she normally wore seemed so authentic. Darlene Snell sold the crazy as a bat murderous old hillbilly really well. Looking forward to the remaining episodes.

The buildup was a 9.5/10.
7.5/10 on the finale.

While I understand how and why they decided to end the series, I just thought it didn't quite stick the landing.

I have to avoid this thread now until I re-up my Netflix account (probably still a couple months away).

Very meh ending.

Nothing horrible or series ruining but wont stand up anywhere close to some of the best finales ever.

Just kinda there.

I agree. Great build up and some turns you don't see coming. Then, the finale hits and ....eh. It was ok.

Question. -- I remember Wendy having Nelson scare Rachel (former owner of The Blue Cat), but did they ever tell us who sent him to Ruth's place? He was following Ruth, but when she went into the police station, he left and went to Ruth's place. So, was he going there to setup an ambush of Ruth? Or was he there to kill Rachel? Either way, who gave the order?

Sure, it makes sense for Wendy to have Nelson follow Ruth to scare her, but when she comes out of the police station and he's gone, that means he was waiting for her to be busy somewhere so he could go to Ruth's place. Was he going there to set up a place to kill her? Or was he going to kill Rachel?

It's hard to imagine Ruth even getting out of her car when she sees what she sees pulling in. As smart as she is, is she really that defiant and willing to say F-U to death? I think they just kind of wanted to wrap this up and lost a little continuity and character motivation to give her that ending. It kind of fits with the entire theme of the show, but Ruth became a fan favorite, so I guess many folks were hoping she somehow made it out alive.

Now, if I were writing the show, I would have had them try and ambush Ruth somewhere else. And she gets saved by the sheriff. They had a mutual respect for one another and I would have ended the show with Ruth in her new lake house and the Byrde family taking over the cartel and the entire mid-west.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not talking about Ruth's death. I'm talking about when Rachel shot Nelson. Why was Nelson there in the first place? It was clear that he intentionally went to Ruth's at a time he knew Ruth would not be there. For what purpose? To kill Ruth in an ambush or was it to kill Rachel, who was staying with Ruth?

Just about every other death in the show, we were told who was responsible for it, but here, we don't know whether it was Wendy or Camilla. If Wendy wanted Rachel dead, she'd have had her killed the first time Nelson was waiting in Rachel's car, and Camilla did not yet have any reason to know that Rachel had killed Javier.

Oh, I agree. I think they left some storytelling continuity on the table just to keep moving towards the end.
