Seattle passed 3 times as well, I did not like him at 2, but I did not expect this
I tried to tell everyone that this QB group was not good and none would not go in the top 5 and maybe not top 10.

Paschal eases the hopeful return to form of Romeo Okwara. This pick also pushes Austin Bryant to show up or GTFO.

I love building the D-Line and hope Holmes continues on day 3 with a quick penetrating DT that has some pass rush, however, just as important that player being extremely stout against the run.
Maybe Bryant slims down a bit and moves to LB:noidea:

I don't want to see that happening. He's not really an athletic football player to make that type of transition. Rotational only player, yes.

I've seen enough of Bryant already, but I don't know if Lions management have.

Also, that D-Line is getting pretty full of bodies.

Julian Okwara has more of a chance succeeding than Bryant.

I don't know a damn thing about this TE, but watching his clip they put up, I find him to be intriguing. And then I read he has an ACL injury. We have a couple of those on the roster already. I get it that he's light in the weight department but watch his blocking skills.

6th round (181): James Mitchell, TE, Virginia Tech

If not for a torn ACL shortening his season, Mitchell would probably be in consideration for a late Day 2/early Day 3 pick. If he can stay healthy, he has the potential to earn some starting snaps and use his speed/route-running ability to create some mismatches.

Well damn, here's an answer as to why the late to the gate for Kerby Joseph at Safety.

Joseph began his college career at Illinois as a defensive back but after two years as a reserve, coaches tried switching him to wide receiver—a position he played in high school. The switch to offense didn’t last long and he eventually flipped back to safety and earned a starting role in 2021.

“My senior season I feel like I took in a lot more extra effort,” Joseph told the Lions media in his post-selection Zoom call. “I feel like I started defining at least one position. I felt we weren’t about two positions—like receiver or safety—whereas I focused in on safety. I feel like that really elevated my game.”

As a starter, Joseph’s snap distribution at Illinois mirrors the Lions' usage of their safeties last season: Free safety (61%), Box (29%), Slot (9%), Outside CB (1%).

His experience in a split-zone concept will surely give him a leg up in adapting to the Lions' scheme. While he is versatile enough to take snaps all over the secondary and in the box, his best position is as a single-high safety where he can see the play develop in front of him, and he can use his athleticism and instincts to close on the ball. Once he gets himself into position, his natural wide receiver skills take over and he makes a lot of plays on the ball—he recorded five interceptions and seven pass breakups last season.

At least I will get to watch day 3!

I like the draft overall, still not sure the trade was the right idea, but you can't argue we won it purely off of draft value. If Lions had a contender that would have been a fantastic trade

With Tracy Walker, Will Harris, and DeShon Elliott likely filling out the Lions' starting roles—at least at the beginning of the season—Joseph figures to be the top reserve, challenging C.J. Moore, Jalen Elliott, Juju Hughes, and Brady Breeze for time on defense.

It’s possible Joseph pushes for a starting job at some point during the 2022 season, but with Harris and Elliott working on expiring contracts, Joseph likely has the inside track to a starting role in 2023.

I'm mostly with you on this thinking.

I love Jameson as a player, but missing out on picks exactly at No. 32, 34, 66 and seeing who was drafted at those slots makes me wonder, however, I was Not on the Watson bandwagon. We still have to see what those players become in three years and Watson with Rodgers might not be a good situation even though the player has the athletic traits. We'll see how that pans out.

No.32 S Lewis Cine
No.34 WR Watson.......... I could care less about this pick
No.66 LB Asamoah........ Who the Lions brought in for a TOP 30 visit

1. LB Darrian Beavers, Cincinnati
2. DT Perrion Winfrey, Oklahoma

Winfrey posted 11 tackles for loss with 5.5 sacks in 12 starts along the interior of Oklahoma's defensive line last year, which is good production from an interior defender. Over 40 percent of his tackles went for a loss, which means he plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage a lot.

3. LB JoJo Domann, Nebraska
4. CB Coby Bryant, Cincinnati
5. RB Dameon Pierce, Florida
6. CB Tariq Woolen, UTSA
7. LB Terrel Bernard, Baylor
8. TE Isaiah Likely, Coastal Carolina
9. FB Connor Heyward, Michigan State
10. QB Sam Howell, North Carolina

BB_72: I am interested in Winfrey, but not at the cost of trading future picks.
I'd rather draft Zappe than Howell. Maybe Zappe lasts until round 6 somewhere.

So explain how all these “draft experts” had him at 2 for months?

Are they just gullible pawns eating up bad info from scouts?

One league source theorized that, in an already weak quarterback class — “perhaps the worst group ever” — “no player stood out over the others.”

Another league source felt that quarterback-needy teams didn’t want to be the first to make such a move on Day 2. So, there was a standoff to see who would bite first. It wound up being the Falcons, setting off a mini-run on passers.

One source wasn’t overly shocked by Willis’ fall, in particular.

“People just don’t like him as high as he was said to be regarded,” an AFC exec said.

The same, he said, held true for the rest of the signal-caller class, which now seems obvious in retrospect, though it did leave most of the league perplexed by the game of chicken that ensued Friday night.

A scout on a team that filled its quarterback need earlier this offseason did say that his team was interested in Willis earlier in the offseason.

“Not sure what caused the slide,” he said.
