sounds like a 3 win team.
Therein lies the beauty in what they are planning at Commanders park.

Contrary to popular opinion, they are not inept.

they don't secretly hate the organization

They have a long-term plan and it means tanking the 2022-23 season in order to get a crack at one of the top QBs in next year's draft. Doggone it @DCR, you ole' clever fox, you've uncovered their plan!!! A 3-win team indeed!:nod:

im geniuenly confused. it seems like the majority of this board hates every pick (im not on dean's boat) so the only thing i can take away is that we will suck next year ala the jaguars so we can argue who the skins will take with the 2nd pick in the 2023 draft? maybe dad has that covered?

Dotson = D+ (they traded exceptional for good)

Mathis = D (make a hole unnecessarily fill the new hole )

Robinson = C+ (A natural back, he's a biggun' too!)

Dotson - A+
Mathis - A++++
Robinson - Sure Fire Hall of Famer

These ratings are fake.

Also, they’re probably not as bad as you think they are.

I like the Robinson pick. He is a good in between the tackle's runner and great for short yardage. Gibson struggles at this. Robinson will be the short yardage and goaline back. He will have a role his year. I knew they wanted a RB. This guy was a beats in the college playoff. Looks like Rb's and Wr's are set right now.

I have no idea what is going on at LB. Maybe they are bringing Collins back to play LB, or they are signing A. Barr from Minn. I see some interior lineman on the board that could help. Also, some decent Te's.

ommanders selected Alabama RB Brian Robinson with the No. 98 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

It's yet another blow to Antonio Gibson's fantasy fortunes after J.D. McKissic's Bills switcheroo. Robinson (6'2/225) joined 'Bama in 2017, the same year as Najee Harris, entering into a running backs corps that included sophomore Josh Jacobs and a junior Damien Harris. Jerome Ford arrived the following year. Unsurprisingly, Robinson was not a featured runner until Jacobs, Harris, and Harris left for the NFL. When he got his chance in 2021, he produced 1,343 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, adding 296 yards and two more scores as a receiver. Robinson isn't particularly explosive, posting a 4.53 40 30-inch vertical and 9-foot-11 broad jump at the Combine, but with above-average size, a solid all-around skill set, and Alabama pedigree, he looks likely to emerge as a trusted committee option or clear-cut backup in the mold of Alexander Mattison. It's clear the Commanders want to reduce Gibson's workload after last year's grinding, injury-marred affair.

No problem with this pick at all. Gibson got stuffed on alot of 3rd and shorts and had major fumbling problems last year. They do not view Gib as a 3 down back. Looks like Committe on 1s and 2nd down with JD as the 3rd down back. If JD gets hurt, then Gib will take over 3rd down duties. Smart pick, I like it.

To follow up on Mathis, he was a projected 3rd round pick. With our 3rd round pick being so late he would have never been there. Maybe that's why they reached in the 2nd round. Jones DT from Uconn went early 3rd so it's not a huge reach by any means. They wanted mathis as a player and knew he wouldnt be there in the late 3rd. This 4th round projection is nonsense. Plus, another DT went in the late 3rd. You guys have to factor in where our pick was in the 3rd.

I think it's entertaining the comments I read in here .. RR hit it out of the park last night Presser .. He said you have to make tough choices when you have to pay a qb the big bucks there are consequences.. ... I guess you could go 60 million over the cap but that's a different story.. if Mathis is productive you got a good DT on a rookie deal 4 to 5 years bottom line you got have cap space now if Wentz sucks next year you get 28 mill back etc etc you was not going resign settle after this season your not going resign Payne after this season you need Cap to get QB ..

I watch so much football I can tell you guys I see guys named bobo play 5 times better then settle and Iron man i seen no name 4 man fronts play better then ours by far it's about playing FOOTBALL not big names like jets draft you guys know this .. and I am 100 percent sure all the anger in here and all hate on the draft in here and on twitter is a run off of anger from the name change etc etc.. I see GB draft I laugh but you factor in there qb money it makes sense well we have draft this guy because we can't keep this guy next year Approach . Everybody needs to slow down and really really think you guys think Chiefs hated T.Hill no they did not they knew to move forward they could not pay him.. by the way according to some chiefs bloggers they would have took Dotson with one of there picks to replace Hill

They definitely are not set at WR!!!

WR 1 in a passing league cannot be TM, upgrade was needed, they had the guy staring them in their faces and passed. Now instead of having a WR 1 and WR1A they are sticking with a fast declining model that fewer teams are employing. Dotson is a good player, despite the fact that he played in the good sleeping when you watch conference, but he is only an upgrade over our WR2 and worse where he'll actually play, in the slot.

We are all set at WR. For reasons that I already explained. That fact that you give up on guys after one year is very foolish and irresponsible. Now for the WR you are always talking about. If Williams was such as slam dunk prospect, why didn't the Saints take him over Olave? Why did the Jets pass on him? Don't get me wrong Wiliams could be great. but is he going to be significantly better than all of these WR's in this draft? My answer is no right now. The Commanders valued Dotson as the same as Olave and Hamilton so they made the trade and picked up 2 picks. Will Olave and Hamilton be significantly better than Dotson? time will tell but we valued the picks more. Maybe Williams was off their board b/c of medical reasons.

For you to be right on this, Williams would have to be a huge upgrade over London, Wilson, Olave, Hamilton, and Dotson. We can revisit this in 3 years to find out who is right on this. Not after one year like you and skinsdad evaluate players only after one year. To be determined.

As far as the trade is concerned. We will have to find out if Dotson, Robinson, and the 4th round pick was worth moving down. If Hamilton, Williams, and Olave become major studs then the fans have right to be pissed off. Well at least we have something to talk about for the next 3 years. lol

This is my hole point a team should never be set at anything not in less that player is and project on a H.O.F course or is the the top 1to 5 at that postions.. being set is the old way of thinking keep the the train moving at each position with the test of maybe 2-3 years... the 40th ranked DT Payne will not get us nowhere I am sorry but it's true use that money elsewhere .. the old way is draft a guy he could be great in 2 to 3 years just like collage the old way was like bring in a recruit he sits 1 year and redshirts be ready by year 3 to start there was a time in collage where the starters where mainly JRs and Srs .. the new way is if your not good by year 2 I am going to tell you to portal I need your spot for someone else.same with NFL I am sorry but it is how it is done now Dotson is a nice peace but he is not a alpha WR the Megatron, Randy Moss , etc etc there is not a Alpha wr in this draft it's not the commanders fault
