I know the packers aren’t. They wouldn’t want to give up the capital and then pay him. If, and I mean if, Metcalf gets traded, I would be baffled if someone gave up a top 5 pick for him. The beauty of the rookie contract is massive
It's for a first, the top 5 part is about projecting which teams will have one next year.

Ultimately couldn't believe anything about Wilson, why believe anything now?

Speaking Tuesday, Seahawks GM John Schneider said that it is "our intent" to extend contract-year WR DK Metcalf.

The Seahawks notably said the exact same thing about Russell Wilson. Schneider also again complained about the exploding market for wide receivers, as he did last week, saying: "But yeah there is a bit of, whoa, but then you have to figure out, where’s the cap going? What it’s going to look like? How do you build your team?" Pete Carroll used the exact same word, "intend," in speaking about Metcalf earlier on Tuesday. There sure seems to be reason to believe Metcalf could be traded if the Seahawks aren't comfortable paying what the market is now bearing.

@averagejoe : You should start a new thread: Coachspeak: Fact or Fiction.

I would, but for whatever reason, I think you'd be better suited for it. :)

Speaking Tuesday, Seahawks GM John Schneider called TE Will Dissly a "core dude on the offense."

He also implied that the Seahawks had to pay Dissly more money than expected because "another team that knows Dissly well was coming after him." You don't know the team, they're in Canada. Dissly has yet to play more than 60% of the offensive snaps or create more than 300 receiving yards in a season, but the Seahawks valued his leadership enough to overpay him. Noah Fant will be the Seahawks tight end who draws targets this year, and even those targets might not be all that fantasy-valuable.

Take it every thing with a grain of salt, however Metcalf is saying things that sounds like he's open to resigning. Made remarks about trying to fill the void left by departure of Wags and RW for example and been projecting a very positive vibe about the Seahawks.

Pete Carroll seems to be the spokesman for most of this stuff, but I don't believe it's coming from him.

Par for the course. I mean you can’t expect them to say, “we’re down the river without a paddle, come bend us over.”

I might prefer the team that ties the game to go into OT, kicks off in OT.
Thinking more about this - what if it's 0-0? We're kind of assuming a late score sends it to overtime, but it could be a game where nobody has scored for a while, and in that case the attraction of that rule fades a little.

i think I like the home team idea... if we could make it so an 8-9 division winner doesn't host an 11-6 wild card.

Didn’t think of that. Touche

Also if the tie score came in the 3rd quarter. I didn’t think it through

I am sure this is so rare that it has only happened literally a handful of times. If its 0-0 after 60 minutes, each team deserves a tie. No extra time.
If it happens in the playoffs, flip a coin to decide the winner.

2 times and the last was 1943. Both times involved the Lions of course. Oddly enough there have been 5 games that ended 2-0.

New Giants coach Brian Daboll said he's gone back and watched a lot of pre-2021 film on Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney to figure how to best utilize the receivers.
Golladay's first season with the Giants was a failure no matter how we look at it. He missed three games to injuries and caught just 37-of-76 targets for 521 scoreless yards, averaging a career-low 14.1 yards per catch. Toney had an electric 10-189 game against Dallas in Week 5 but would end up missing six of the final seven games to injury. OC Jason Garrett never really seemed to have a grasp of how to run a playmaking offense

Granted, Garret was no success in NY, but his offenses in Dallas were perfectly fine at making big plays when he had real QB's to use.. He had a top 10 offense for ten years straight in bigD.
He's no great HC, but give him a QB as an OC, and he can make offense happen. Golladay's issues are centered around Danny Dimes, and Dabol isn't fixing that

Not looking great for Golladay with Daniel Jones. Glad they replaced Glennon as he was much worse then Jones, but don't think Taylor really helps Golladay any either.

So Arians retires, DC Bowles takes over..

We all know Arians called the plays and lef the league in deep balls..now what?? Will a defensive HC change that up?

Does Brady take a ding his final year? Evans, Godwin? Lenny take a step up??

The crazy offseason continues

I think he lets Brady and Leftwich deal with the offense.

I dunno, I highly doubt a rookie, defensive minded HC, allows the game plan to be 42 pass attempts a game, Brady or no.
Nevermind..he's not a rookie HC..DOH..he led the Jets to plenty of bad finishes.

Not too comparable since he was dealing with Fitzpatrick and Darnold at QB most of the time...BUT...even losing most of their games, they weren't throwing 40 times a game

Fitzy took them to 10-6 under 562 PA in 2015

So, 35 per game. I highly doubt he shows up Brady. I think 40 is well within reach.

I mean, your probably right..it would certainly be in his best interests to just let Brady and Lefty handle that half of the plan, but, there's always philosophical changes with new HC's, and even minor ones can be a big difference in stat lines.
