I just got a call from the Rangers rep that calls every year to see what my interest in ticket plans is.

I told him that until I actually know when the season starts, there are no plans. Seemed like a pretty ballsy move on the Rangers part.

the rangers organization has always been tone deaf on things like this. Remember when they held onto peoples Money for buying tickets during the worst of the pandemic while other teams refunded it immediately?

Some info from Jeff Wilson today:

Things are happening with the Texas Rangers at the Surprise Recreation Campus, just not with anyone on the 40-man roster.

A mini-camp for minor-leaguers is scheduled to begin today. Live batting practice for pitchers who arrived early started Friday, with Jack Leiter among those throwing.

The beginning of spring training was delayed last week, and MLB said Friday that the soonest spring games will start is March 5.

Nevertheless, several members of the front office traveled Sunday to Arizona and president of baseball operations Jon Daniels is headed there Tuesday to begin his spring stay.

Around half of the big-league coaching staff are there, too.

Don’t read too much into that. Daniels said he could fly home at some point if there isn’t enough progress toward a new collective bargaining agreement this week in Florida.

Asked if he had any inside intel, he said he did not.

But there is a sense of urgency for the first time during the MLB lockout, with owners and players flocking to Florida to begin hammering out an agreement. Owners said they will be prepared every day this week for bargaining sessions.

Why the urgency? Well, each side has given their drop-dead day for a new CBA to be in place and not have regular-sesaon games lost. The players reportedly told the owners that if games are lost and players lose income, they absolutely will not agree to an expanded playoffs this season.

That means the owners wouldn’t see extra money added to their postseason TV deal, which could reach $100 million with a 14-team format.

No wonder there’s so much urgency.

Here is a new mock draft. This one gives us Druw Jones.

The last two mock drafts I have seen had Brooks Lee at the top. That is definitely a change from the past several.

There definitely seems to be a much greater sense of urgency in the labor negotiations compared to a week ago.

Several weeks ago I said that I fully expected the Rangers to trade away 5 to 8 of their top 20 prospects by the July31, 2022 trade deadline. I don't know that I am as convinced of that at the present as I was then, but I still think it is a strong possibility. Since I went out on a limb, I will stay on the limb.

One thing I thought of since then is that I need to make some kind of list of top 20 prospects to use in about 5 months to see how inaccurate I was. There is some wide discrepancy in the various lists regarding these type of rankings after you get to about number 10 or so. I have decided to look at some of the lists and try to come up with an amalgamation.

I will lean towards the lists of Prospects 1500, Keith Law, MLB Pipeline, Prospects Live, and Jeff Wilson. I have a little bit of an idea of Baseball Prospectus' list, but not really the order they had them in, so I am looking at theirs, but not giving it as much weight as I might have, if I could view it in its entirety.

These aren't necessarily in order. The further you go down the list the harder I found it to come up with as much agreement though.

Leiter
Winn
Jung
White
Vanasco
Foscue
Smith
Duran
Carter
Harris
Zavala
Acuna
Huff
Wendzel
Roby
Morrobel
Acosta
Bradford
Hauver
Henriquez

Just outside of the top 20 are Alexy, Kent, and Gutierrez.

So there we have it. Let's see just how many of those top 20 guys get traded. I hope not many at all.

Yes I believe this about covers most of the MLB new CBA news for the day. Guess I want to hear news on Jung vs the doom and gloom EG states

I asked Chris H. if we would get any news about Jung today, but he never replied.
