Does anyone not see a correlation here about how all of a sudden Wiggy values high percentage, low volume shots from his center when the Cavs JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE A SIMILAR TYPE PLAYER?

Valuing a guy for put backs and lobs is great, but let's not pretend he's more valuable offensively because he doesn't create his own shots.
I would say- that generally its better to make shots then miss them and you dont get extra points for an 18 footer.

However, I understand the limitations of that---- but the fact is that Gobert and Allen just are not GOOD at that- they are the elite of the elite. Literally #1 and #2 in all of the NBA. The only 2 guys at 70% or more.

the next closest is another very high value guy- DeAndre Ayton at 63%

there are only 6 guys in the league at 60% or above--- and 2 are bit players in Gafford and McGee.

so- I mean- Domantas Sabonis, 8th in the league (and really 6th if you take out Gafford and McGee)-- has a crazy high % at 57.9%- which obviously has value.

Add an additional 12% to that and you where Gobert and Allan are.

I love the comments on this thread about how bad Westbrook's shooting has become and I nearly pissed my Depends when I saw JFK's picture as an old guy and at the top the title read: When Westbrook is the shooter. LOL!!

Westbrook was 2 for 14 last night and his shooting has only gotten worse to the point where he totally sucks. In one sequence, he missed three shots in-a-row: He missed a three, he gets the rebound and clanks a second, two point shot, Lebron gets the rebound passes to Westbrook who drives for lay-up and misses that one too.

This guy is a complete, shit-the-bed player and he has the balls enough to tell everyone that nobody is going to tell him how to play. What a dumb fuck. What is even more stupid is Pelinka and whoever else endorsed the notion that this was the player to trade for and relinquish all of the players and draft capital dumbass Pelinka gave-up for this douchebag is now realizing that he might have been on crack when he/they thought this was a good idea!!

What a shit-show!!

There were many here including you who saw the trade as POTENTIALLY working out. And it could have. But it did not. Hindisight is easy.

Of course, there were many here who knew it was a bad idea from the jump.

No I never said that nor was I ever a proponent of the Westbrook trade, msgkings. I joined the discussion about the trade for Westbrook after he started to play for the Lakers and I saw how bad this guy could be, but I was one of the few over on the Lakers page who didn't like trading away Kuzma and draft capital for Westbrook. I joined the discussions and prognostications that were being floated on who the Lakers could trade for and move this guy wanting the Lakers to get rid of him.

I relented later when alot of people who liked the trade, especially in light of all of the trades he was mentioned to be a component of that did not and will not happen were ragging on me. Now the Lakers are wishing they had not made that trade as the guy can't shoot to save his life.

You should get your facts a little more factual and less of your perspective when you claim I liked the trade overall from the beginning when I didn't and stated a number of times to that fact.

Allen was an outdated center before he made it to the Cavs.

This whole Bam vs Rudy debating is straight nonsense. Bam is 24 and can still improve. Gobert is 29 and is what he is, a very good player and mainly a defender...close to the basket. Bam can defend players almost anywhere.

Bam is 99.6 on shots 0-2 feet, 39.1% on shots 0-3 (odd), 24.7% on 3-10, 25.5 on 10-16, and .004% on 16-treys.

Gobert is 99..7% on shots 0-2 feet, 72.4% on shots 0-3, from the basket, 25.9% from 3-10, .014 on 10-16, .003% on 16- treys.

Bam averages triple what Gobert does in apg.

That is invaluable.

The Knicks next game is on Saturday in Atlanta of all places.
I wonder if Cam Reddish makes his Knicks debut against his former team on that night, or if they'll wait until next Monday at home in MSG against the Hornets?

The reality is this.

In the current roles with their current teams the value of Bam vs Gobert is incredibly close.

But if I had to pick 1 to build a team around for the short term, it would be Bam hands down.

Utah has built their defense very specifically around Gobert’s skill set. Bam being more versatile, it is a lot easier to put guys who fit around him. Just more options, more ways to go.

Long term Bam’s age makes it a no brainer.

Allen was an outdated center before he made it to the Cavs.
He can switch and guard on the perimeter, that in itself will help him thrive. But he is more of an old school center offensively bc he actually has post moves but he also isn't as gifted offensively like AD or Bam where he can face up and hit a 20 footer but it fits the Cavs bc Mobley is and will be that guy.

I mean, many Lakers fans here including you definitely reacted with a "glass half full" optimistic take about having another star who could help when AD was hurt, help limit Lebron's minutes, etc. And that was perfectly reasonable to hope for. It just didn't work out that way.

Retro was pretty pessimistic. I think he was hoping he'd pan out like a lot of us were.

But, he wasn't' homeristic at all.

I said I understood the thinking and that Lebron has made it work with other players who didn't fit. I also said that it would be his biggest challenge. I don't think I ever said that I thought it would work.

Don't recall any other Lakers fans saying they thought it would work either.

Technically, it hasn't "not worked" as there are 40 more games and playoffs left.

But the returns so far are not what I would call "favorable". lol
