I'm actually stunned Wiggy hasn't tried to claim Allen is better.
Is that really so crazy based on this season?

Bam - 18.7 ppg, 52% shooting, 10.2 rpg, 3.2 apg, 0.3 bpg, 19.4 PER, O/D rating of 111/105, 0.6 VORP, 1.8 WS
Allen - 16.7 ppg, 70% shooting, 10.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.5 bpg, 24.1 PER, O/D rating of 132/102, 2.0 VORP, 6.0 WS

Allen looks pretty similar in the traditional stats and blows him away in the advanced stats.

admittedly, the advanced numbers were a surprise to me.

What has Gobert done to ever expand his offense? He is attempting that amount of shots because his teammates and coaches know how limited he is on offense. Get in the gym and work on your game. Guy been btwn 7 and 8 shot attempts for 5 years now because his offense is ass. He is no better than Ben Simmons but y'all not ready to have that convo
Should Bam "get in the gym" to be the defensive presence down low that Gobert is? To be able to get more easy dunks and putbacks?

Maybe it's just me but i don't want my 2nd best player attempting 7 or 8 shots per game

Can't grow 4 inches by going in the gym.
Since Gobert has those 4 inches and has been making all NBA teams and winning DPOYs why should he change his game?

Maybe try to be consistent and not have such a double standard?

If my second best player is my second best player because of his defense and rebounding I'd probably be OK if he continued to make all NBA teams and wins DPOY awards.

Why do you keep "slamming" Gobert?

I will ask again. What has Gobert added to his offense the last 5 plus seasons? Say what you want about Bam but he actually tries to improve.

He can still win dpoy while getting better on offense. Get a post move or something. This is a pointless convo if you don't think improving his offense can help his team but guess he is content just like Ben Simmons

I will answer again...I'm not really sure as I cannot say I've followed his career that closely. But he keeps making all defense first teams (or wins DPOY) and is usually on an All NBA team. someone must like how he plays.

why do you keep slamming Gobert?

could it help his team? Sure. It would help Bam's team if he got more rebounds or was a better defender in the paint. Would help if he could develop a 3 point shot like many guys his size have.

Guess for this conversation could add Gobert also blows Bam away in the advanced stats

No team is coachable these days… if there was, keyreie would have gotten the blanket party of his life
The teams that win are obviously coachable. I understand why a Knicks fan wouldn't know that.

My problem with Utah and Gobert isn’t that he is the 2nd best player on the team, it’s his contract. I’m sorry I just can’t pay a player max $40M/year to be a lob threat. I dont care if he is an all-time great defender, his offensive game is too limited to drain a 1/3 of your cap. Gobert has actually grown on me and we see how Utah is desperately missing him but that is too much money for his role. I’m fine going the Jarrett Allen route and giving a player $25M/year for his type of player. He can guard the perimeter at a high level and he actually has worked on his postgame, his footwork is pretty amazing. He can hit a 15 footer but he rarely shoots it. I think it is more bc of his role, Mobley or Love should be taking those shots. Plus shooting 70% at the rim no reason to shoot it from 10 or 15 with his athleticism.
So Gobert is extremely valuable to a team but you can’t fork up $40M/year for that type of player. No way.

Totally agree. Slight correction as JA makes $20 mil per.

Ohh it was a 5 yr. Thought it was a 4 yr. Better than I thought. Gobert makes double!!! Lol
Being a lob threat is nice in the regular season. Won't get you far in the playoffs. His limited offense is a problem in the playoffs. Put too much pressure on Clarkson and Bogy

If this was Mike Conely 4 years ago maybe this is a little different but he is very injury prone at this point
