What a gutless baseball team in San Diego. Embarrassing.

OK well, magic number is 3 with 4 to play! 3 vs this trainwreck of a team.

I listened to a little bit of local sports radio today (I rarely do that), and they were talking about how this Padre team really needs to be blown up. The personalities are not winners.

Not sure who they meant, specifically, but they were super frustrated that this season was just business as usual for the Padres

I feel for the true Padres' fans (what few exist). They finally had an exciting team and looked like the playoffs were a real possibility in the first half. I've got a friend who is a life long Padre fan and he's got to be so frustrated with this team right now.
It would be hard to blow up this team. Too many bloated contracts. Of course, some of them were head scratchers before the ink was dried on the paper.

The Hosmer deal NEVER made sense to me. And Myers is kinda the face of the franchise, but that is more because the franchise sucks. He shown brightly because it was so dark around him.

They have been to TWO World Series’ in their entire existence. That is painful. And even then, making it look as good as possible, they have still only been to two since ‘84. 2 in 37 years.

The Giants have been to 4 since “02. 5 since ‘89.

It really is a pitiful franchise.

That was an epic collapse. At least the Giants won. Still, 3 games up with 4 to go would have been really nice.

And in Padre news that makes me feel really old - the Phillies hired Preston Mattingly, Don's son, away from the Padres to be their new director of player development. Its one thing to think about Don retired and managing. Its another to think of his son retired and in a front office.

I really like seeing Henry Ramos in the big leagues. Makes me wish Heliot was called up for this series, just to have the brothers compete against each other at this level.
Fun fact: last night Henry's wife was at the game with a Ramos 21 Diamondback jersey (to honor Clemente). I asked her about it and she said she was there with Heliot. She invited me to come over and meet him but I was with homies.

A kid I went to jr high with is an exec with the doggies. And I drank beers with Alex Cora my first night in college. How can people my age be so advanced in their careers? We are still kids…
