you mean this guy???

I didn't know for sure Lat Murray was getting cut, but Saints in cap hell, they paid Kamara already, and if paying an RB1 big money is viewed as a bad strategy by most, paying a premium for your RB2 at the same time is just outright cap negligence.

Always good to have options, but if there's one thing I've learned over the years, just because the main guy gets hurt doesn't at all mean that the backup gets to step into his role. There have been way too many times over the years that the main running back gets injured and instead of elevating his backup, they either trade for somebody else or resign a veteran like last year with the Giants signing Freeman after Barkley got hurt. Now it turned out that he was terrible and they ended up giving the job to Gallman later in the season, but team's just panic when plan A doesn't work out and make stupid ass roster moves.

U
Treff will be disappointed. Bell isn't cutting into Gus the Bus workload from the practice squad.
Y'all have far too much faith in Gus. While I have little confidence in Bell, if he has one single iota left of what he once was, he's infinitely better than Gus ever was/will be. It remains to be seen which way that "if" falls.

BTW, I'd say the same thing about Elijah Holyfield or Trenton Cannon, so take it as you will knowing that's its at least %75 disdain for Gus and not an opinion based on anything but that. :suds:
But joking aside, Gus sucks :)

@TREFF - looks like you're getting your wish!

To be honest, the dream was for AP to sign there, where I have no doubts he could perform better than Gus..eventually.

L. Bell is intriguing, and I still think he's superior to Gus, it's just that there's no recent tape that he's put out in the past calender year or so to provide evidence to that theory. So it's nothing more than my opinion that Gus sucks and that Bell isn't completely spent at this point.

Not to mention, that at any point Bell could open his fat gaping craw and get ran out of town...there's that too

weird to see him signed on as practice squad, but I guess they have someone they are trying to protect on current roster that will move to PS when Bell moves to the 53-man?

Signing him to the PS is a COVID procedural move… once he clears the “incubation” or quarantine period he can be officially signed to the 53.

I'm just excited for Jones taking on the Lat Murray role - he'll get enough touches that we'll find out if he's a real player and capable of taking over if Kamara gets hurt or just a preseason darling. Lat Murray was a locked in RB1 pretty much any time Kamara missed a game. Hope they give Jones a chance before flipping the script altogether

Just saw this and was wondering…how long can Henry be elite? I mean what is he superhuman? That many carries in HS, then Bama. Is he the next AP…

Well he did have those first three years when Demarco Murray was around, and the predictably failed Dion Lewis experiment, where he was under 180 carries for the first 2 and under 220 the third...that helps a little. In terms of what he was used to, he was basically on vacation for 3 years

Very hard to say.

There is no statistical correlation between pre-NFL workload and NFL injury/NFL career longevity.

Based on NFL workload, I'd be surprised if he's still a dominant force in 2yrs, but definitely within the range of outcomes. He's already in rare company having back-to-back years with over 380 carries (including playoffs), and most indications are that he'll easily sniff 325-350 again this year.

I don't think rebuilding dynasty teams should hold, but contending teams should continue to ride. Until injury, he'll be in my RB4-6 range until he shows any signs of breaking down. He's only missed a game here and there the last 2 yrs, still no major injuries.

Even after he's not elite, he should still be a high end RB2 for a few years.

Gurley is such a tricky one, cause he was performing well the first half of the season last year, but as everyone knows his knee can no longer hold up to the rigors of the NFL.
I don't think his knee will ever get better, only worse - which is my assumption, but I also think NFL team would've signed him by now if that wasn't the case.

If I had to guess, he's been contemplating retirement when he started getting ruled out of games last year, but we'll see.
The Ravens should hook him up with a private trainer and then sign him in November for an end of season run. Who knows if Gus can really take 250 carries.

the utter lack of passing game involvement worries me on his post-prime career. not an NFL coach, but I feel like they just don't give him those opportunities, even though I haven't seen him falter in the few he gets.

yeah, Bell's going to be the passing down specialist, if/when he's fully healthy and able to make the roster.
it's just such a small role in the Ravens offense, can't wait to see the numbers behind this deal.

Bell is an amazing example of not overplaying your hand for future NFL'ers
There's always Super Bowl Champion Antonio Brown to look up to.

those rare opportunities when they call a screen to Henry...you can almost feel the fear in the defensive secondary as he rounds the corner..I love it, wish they'd do it more often.

I would gather the key to his "post-prime" production will lie in short yardage goal line work..much like "The Bus" in his latter years

Once AB is washed let's compare again. AB should become the poster child for what you can accomplish in life while battling mental illness(es)
