Then why not compete...

Make it 2 hours and go head to head with the "Big boys"

A 2nd hour puts it past 11pm. It's too late. The later a show goes, the lower the ratings are. The Dynamite shows that got pushed to Fridays because of NBA games averaged way less than the usual 8 to 10 shows because of it. The 2nd later hour, the viewership craters.

Thought it was a solid debut show. I was thinking that they would do a double dq or something with the Christian Cage vs Kenny Omega match so they could protect both guys going into All Out. But I thought it was a solid match.
Fuego looked genuinely surprised when Sammy came down and they officially made him a part of the roster. I thought it was a good moment.
I hope Jericho isn't a full time announcer on this show. He was way too much tonight. If anyone should've played the heel announcer, it should've been Taz instead.
Was surprised that they didn't mention anything about NJPW Resurgence that's airing tomorrow night since there's some AEW talent (Moxley and Archer) and talent that's been featured on Dynamite (Good Bros. and Wheeler Yuta) that'll be on there.

Some sheets said afterwards that it was a legit reaction. They didn't tell him beforehand.

Kenny vs Andrade for the AAA Title was tonight

Andrade brought out RIC FLAIR to be in his corner.

They put on a banger of a match. Kenny retained the title.

So we know for certain that Kenny won’t be around to interfere in the Good Bros match tonight but wouldn’t be shocked to see the Young Bucks show up to interfere there.

I believe that. When the camera was on him in the ring when Tony and Sammy were out there, you could tell he was tearing up. I figured it was either a legit reaction or he was a good actor.

I think it’s bs.

it’s a big nothing burger and it’s embarrassing for aew

the Sammy thing I get but even that is a misunderstanding

I had multiple chicks i dated say they were going to “r*pe” me

it’s a dumb vernacular young kids use
I think it should be more on whomever edits the show to get punished. They had days to see that and be able to cut it out. I honestly didn’t think it was all that big of a deal either but he turned into the scapegoat regardless. Sucks for him, Bowens and the Varsity Blondes since they were having a feud on the Dark shows.

I don't follow AAAs booking closely but I fully expected Andrade to win here. Maybe he eventually wins the belt on an AEW show?

Pac/Andrade has a chance to steal the show at All In.

Since Archer lost the US title tonight to Tanahashi (to the shock of probably nobody), it's just about guaranteed Dan Lambert is going to be on Dynamite Wednesday trash talking Archer about his loss.

I don't either but I just tuned in for the match because I knew it'd be good. There was a Meltzer (I think) report today that said the original plan was for Andrade to win but AEW asked AAA to hold off on it for a little while. The most logical is they don't want Kenny losing to Christian and Andrade before the title match at All Out.

You think they'll do Archer vs Tanahashi at All Out like Archer suggested or go with Mox? Either way, it definitely seems like we're getting Tanahashi in AEW real soon

I don’t think so. I don’t know Japan’s COVID protocols so I don’t think that New Japan would want to risk not having Tanahashi for the G1 which isn’t long after All Out takes place. I think maybe in November or December would be a possibility. But they definitely teased a match with Moxley at some point, which could also air on Strong.

Nope
Omega hadn’t lost in almost 2 years

hangman being the first one to beat him and take the first belt away would’ve been a big deal.

now? It’s a lot less special

It absolutely is because you're missing the story being told. The story isn't Kenny is unbeatable and his former partner is the one to beat him. It's Hangman overcoming his own personal demons and fear of failure. That story is still there. It doesn't matter if Kenny takes a loss here or there. What matters is Hangman doesn't run from his past failures, confronts his former friends about the hurt in their relationship as their version of The Elite imploded, and then winning the AEW title (which he failed to do when he first had a crack at it vs Jericho) which set this whole thing into motion

you don’t think having the deck stacked against him by a guy who hadn’t lost since before bat soup was a thing and who has more gold than ft Knox doesn’t build that story up more?

that if no one else could beat him, how could it be the self destructive hangman that is the one who finally does it?

because it isn't real, dude. It's a story and you have this persona Hangman has been building and his relationship with Kenny and the whole "overcoming all odds" story is HUGE in everything.

Why wouldn't it work?

It’s fine

but again, beating an unstoppable Kenny makes the story better

it’s more daunting

it should make him more anxious since hangman always falls apart in big moments

that’s why he was the least successful member of the elite

and being the guy to take out the biggest baddie in aew would’ve been huge

But now that cage beat him, it’s just not as special

I don't see Hangman being unable to beat Kenny being because Kenny is unbeatable though.

it's because Hangman has a problem he needs to overcome himself.

Nah. Because the story already has everything it needs. The payoff will be huge. The pop will be huge. It isn't really a levels type deal where everything you add on top just continuously makes things better and better. In wrestling storytelling, you reach a point that's basically "peak pop". It's the climax the core story can achieve. You can add stuff to it, but it doesn't raise it higher. It's just extra stuff around the summit. Kenny being undefeated is just extra stuff around the summit. He shouldn't start eating losses, but an occasional loss (like to Christian) isn't going to hurt in the long run. The "peak pop" is still the Hangman story

I guess it comes down to how much sympathy can they pile onto Hangman? He seems to have everyone rooting for him and getting that W clean would be great if there was a title tied to it.

Honestly they should be resolving this now.
It’s at risk for waiting too long
