rodgers could of opted out july 2nd but cricketsIt gains the packers nothing to trade him now. I still think he plays one more season with the Packers.
His chance to do that came and went and he didnt do it so still think he returns.rodgers could of opted out july 2nd but crickets
ProFootballTalk.com reports Aaron Rodgers could save $18.3 million in unearned signing bonus money and roster bonus money if he opts out of the 2021 season by July 2.
It's a new wrinkle in the NFL MVP's offseason saga, and one that should cause tremendous heartburn in the Packers' front office. An agreement between the league and the player's union struck this week grants "broad powers to all players to opt out of the 2021 season, regardless of whether they opted out in 2020 or whether they have been diagnosed with a higher-risk condition since October 1, 2020." Last year, dozens of players opted out of the season due to COVID-19 concerns. The Packers have been crystal clear that they will not trade Rodgers. He'll play for Green Bay or no one in 2021. Jordan Love, meanwhile, has taken almost all of the first-team reps in Green Bay offseason practices, making up for his lack of reps during the COVID-shortened 2020 offseason. Love under center this season would be a major hit to the fantasy value of all Packers skill position players
Torn Achilles for Cam Akers
Henderson just got a big boost.looks like Rams will be the 1st stop for the veteran FA RB circuit, oh what a time to be alive!
my son traded away Akers for Derrick Henry and still has Henderson, so he wins for this season. Akers was part of a package, not straight up.Thank the Lord I held onto Henderson in OS Dynasty... lol
Almost traded for Akers
Not entirely sure that is McVay's M-O though... Going for an aged vet. He's always been about making splash moves. Maybe he throws out a big trade in the next few days?AP/Bell/Gurley all make so much more sense than any of those others, I guess I'd maybe put Bell and Gurley over AP, not sure it makes a difference. Duke only one out of the rest I'd consider, but doesn't have a resume and is coming off injury, tough hurdles to overcome there.
Now that is a homerun scenario for this season. Kudosmy son traded away Akers for Derrick Henry and still has Henderson, so he wins for this season. Akers was part of a package, not straight up.
This happened in May. No idea why Shefter wanted to bring this up again other than being the bith in a relationship.as the packers turn
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Packers offered Aaron Rodgers a two-year contract extension earlier this offseason.
The deal could have kept Rodgers in Green Bay for the next five years. According to Schefter, the extension would have made him the highest-paid player in football. Rodgers obviously rejected the offer and that indicates that the rift between him and his organization really is about more than just money. Many had speculated that a new deal would bring Rodgers back but it appears the bad blood runs deeper than that. With no trade partners stepping up, the reigning MVP will either play in Green Bay or sit out the 2021 season. If Rodgers does choose to leave the Packers hanging, Green Bay's remaining fantasy options will take a massive hit. Only Aaron Jones and Davante Adams could be safely rostered in most fantasy leagues.
I also thought AP originally as well.Well, after trading half the farm for Stafford, I certainly don't see McVay standing pat with Henderson and a cpuple of late round rookies/UDFA's and a couple 2nd years who were also late round rookies/UDFA's. Perhaps there's a new James Robinson in that group, but the odds are certainly against it.
Makes sense to me to sign one of those bigger name FA's..AP and Girley being the logical choices to me. Gurley obviously will have familiarity with the coach and the system..but we all know he's not going to be around, or at least, won't be productive, for all 17 games. Peterson, should have a good trust level with the QB at least, and a much better recent track record of being available all year long. And he's got a ring to chase, and an all time rushing leader ladder to climb, so he MIGHT be cheaper than Gurley too.
My money is on AP, but any of Gurley/AP/Bell would not surprise me. It would be almost insulting if they sign no one.
They will likely sign someone for depth, but think they will want to be frugal as they are tight on cap space. Will these RBs mentioned sign for cheap? If you're willing to do what they did to get Stafford, finding another 3-5 mill in cap space would be peanuts. AP signed for 1 million to play in friggin Detriot last year...I'm sure they could squeeze him in somehowThey will likely sign someone for depth, but think they will want to be frugal as they are tight on cap space.
