Browns defense should be much improved.

-Johnson- the safety from the Rams was their play caller and one of their leaders and was one of the best safeties on the market- and hes young- and the Browns got him at a good price- GREAT signing

-Grant Delpit- the Browns 2nd round pick LAST YEAR never played a down because of injury- and many had him as a first round talent. He will be back.

-Greedy Williams never played a down last year with an injury- and supposedly he is healthy- you cant count on him- but he is also a former 2nd round pick- that if he is healthy can add some real talent

- They signed Hill- another DB from the Rams who is pretty talented.

-They signed the linebacker from the Colts that people really like.

-They signed Clowney to help on the d-line

-They signed Takk McKinley to help on the d-line

-Billings opted out last year becuase of Covid but he will play this year on the dline.

its gonna be intereseting. The defense was a weakness but between the signings and players coming back from injury the Browns are going to add a lot of talent to a defense that already had Myles Garrett, and Denzel Ward. Sheldon Richardson isnt a slouch either.
September cannot come soon enough. Have you seen what they'll be paying Clowney, Johnson, Hill, Jackson and McKinley in 2021? Less than $15 mil combined.

Ya gotta love this FO.

Damn all those players for less than 15m? Does that mean Haslam now has enough money for a brain transplant from the Cleveland Clinic?

Casualty to the Browns signing of Clowney.....Richardson was released. Guessing they asked him to take a cut and he refused. Might be a mistake as not sure he even gets half what he was set to make. Maybe they told him to test the market and maybe will resign him.

Saw this coming. Guessing they'd rather have Jackson and Billings for about half the cost. say what ya will, but this regime does not like to pay guys well more than they are worth and they understand cap carryover as well as anyone. anything they save this year can go towards extensions to Ward, Baker and/or Chubb.

Maybe he ends up coming back for less?

Would be awesome if he came back for less. Understood that is unlikely

I don't think he will either. Pride thing with these guys. They get asked to take less, say no, then probably end up taking less somewhere else than if they had just stayed.

I think they liked Richardson - just not at that price.

It seems like they are going to use some of that 11 million dollar savings when they go to resign Chubb, Ward and Mayfield.

11M is prob. over half the guaranteed money Chubb would get/want over a 4 year deal.

Yep....while fans might not understand cap carryover and how to best use it this FO does. They also don't like paying guys double what their worth might be. wont be surprised at all if he comes back at a lower number.

Chubb will be very interesting, just because paying huge $$ to a RB often fails. Friend made a good point that maybe that’s part of why they are so careful with his usage, so that they aren’t extending a RB who’s getting burnt out. Hopefully Chubb is that rare player that doesn’t chase every penny and signs a deal that is good for both sides.

That is a tough one, because in all honesty he would be dumb not to chase every penny.

I don’t think he should pull a LeVeon, but RBs need to get paid while they can because the shelf life is short and they are always an injury away from getting cut.

Once he hits FA no doubt he should chase every penny. But at this point, maybe could take less to get the security. He's never had my entire family will never work again money as a 2nd rounder. Plus, the guy knows major injuries are a real thing as he's had 2 (or 3?).

I'd think he falls somewhere in 4 for 48 to 52. For cleveland he's worth it imo. They probably end up having to find a cheaper replacement for Hunt for starters as they get into having to extend Baker and Denzel. But they should be good for 2 more years of hunt/chubb

Looking at 2022 it becomes an inevitability that they part ways with either Jarvis or OBJ

If Cleveland gives him a lot of guaranteed money, then it might work for both sides.

Most teams tend to be unwilling to make deals like that with RBs though. We shall see.

That's probably what they'd be willing to pay. If he wants $15-16 mil+ my guess is they franchise him.

Yep..mentioned that in my earlier comment. Well, teams have been willing, but they often regret those deals for RBs.
