He's clearing been the best starting pitcher in camp, in terms of results. However, I think that the only way he makes the team is if either Sanchez or Wood are deemed not ready to start the season. Even then, he may not make it as the team will have quite a few off days early in the season and won't have need of a 5th starter for a couple of weeks. So, ultimately, he only makes the team if either Kapler and the FO feel that they need to take it easy on the arms and still start 5 guys with all the off days and one of Sanchez and Wood aren't ready or if both Sanchez and Wood aren't ready.
I fully expect him to be the #4 guy to start the season, with Sanchez the #5. All RHP rotation -- GasCan, JC, Descla, Webb, Sanchy

Looks like the final decision is: Wade or 14th pitcher?

These are some surprising moves. I can understand Vosler getting optioned if Longoria and Belt both were able to play defensively but all either have done is take at-bats. There's no proof yet that either can handle an inning, let alone 9 innings, on the field. However, I understand that the org knows more than me on this and feel confident that both will be ready for defensive action come Opening Day.
Bracho is more of a head scratcher. He's outperformed Gott, Kazmir, Littell, Marte and Yamaguchi, yet gets cut while all of them are still officially in camp. Odd.
And this Wade love has me completely baffled. Kapler has been quoted yesterday as praising Wade's "approach and the quality of his at-bats". What? He's struck out in 9 of his last 18 at-bats, against 3 hits, all singles, and 2 walks. If that is the quality Kapler is looking for, we need a new manager.

I am very interested to see the mixing and matching this year, and if it can be sustained over a full season. I found it interesting that as a Giant, Alex Dickerson has batted .294/.361/.552 over 108 games, and 90% of his plate appearances have been vs. right-handed pitchers. They've certainly deployed him to his strengths, and it's worked great so far. Each of those were just over half a season, though. Can they mix and match the entire year.

The infield, it seems, will be very fluid. I've wondered if all that will backfire or if injuries will prove that the stacking was worthwhile.

Elementary MUST be hurt...
I wonder if he had an out and he “forced” them to release him??

it makes no sense to me. He has looked good to the layman’s eye and out up good numbers, but he was never able to get a good payday or navigate his own career. There must be SOMETHING in his resume that scares everyone off.

He probably did. The fact he could only sign a minor league deal was strange. Guys with much less success have opt outs on the contract. The fact that Phily has a horrible mess of a bullpen and weren't willing to carry him either speaks to some unknown issue with his arm or character. Or it speaks to the fact of baseball today - potential is much more valued than actual results, if said results aren't achieved with tantalizing potential.

That's a bummer about Van Gurp. I was rooting for that guy but he didn't look good once he was shipped to the Padres and, like most orgs, have a lot of players to cut in the next month.
tzill, I have to ask - do you have pet nicknames for the clients of your law firm?

OF: Dick, Doobie, Yaz, Slater, Ruf, Wade
SP: GasCan, JC, Webb, Descla, Sanchy
RP: McGee, Wisler, Rogers, Moronta, Trop, Alvarez, Garcia, Littell

Ramos is on there too.. Not sure if one of those is a nickname for him or not...

Looks like Wade was reassigned to MiLB camp today, so Belt must be ready. Otherwise your batters are spot on.

On the pitching side, we'll see. Kazmir and Yamaguchi were reassigned today, but neither had a great shot.

Has anyone else had issues streaming the Giants games online or through the app so far? I haven't been able to stream a single one thus far this spring. They haven't even been listed on their website.

Looking ahead too, it doesn't list any upcoming Giants games, but they list upcoming Warriors games. Makes me concerned about being able to stream games this year.

Today's game is the free game of the day but it won't play for me. I do, however, have a crappy computer, so there's that.
