You should be ashamed Dumler. The Patriots are the best franchis in sports.
Although not perfect, it's still a very desirable place to be.
Now you qualified your comments with "make it more difficult"
For players that don't want to play for Pats, it will be more difficult - let them play somewhere else. There are 31 other teams.
Now for free agents needing a job, the fact that that Pats can sign them more than makes up the difference.
For the record. I have not seen a single player that I want signed come out as opposed to signing with the Patriots.

Now that Elway has srewed the pooch in Denver, perhaps you are hoping for other teams to share your misery?????

Honestly as long as you are not the Raiders, Chiefs, or Chargers I don't care how good or bad your team is. I do think some Pats fans forget how difficult it is to build a contender on a regular basis. 20-years of incredible success will do that to you. Maybe the Pats become a contender again this year, I just have a hard time seeing it until they get the QB situation figured out for the long-term.

And the Pats do have money this offseason so again they will definitely sign some guys. All I've said is that without Brady in the picture some of that gets a bit more difficult and the ability to sell the team changes. Most veterans even the good ones chasing championships though still look for the best offer anyway.

Unless you are one of the tems that hs reliably failed, you won't understand how the Patriots have continually done this.
I would be amazed at your pronunciation of the Patriots deth knoll but you have done this every year.
Best franchise of all time is only 2 years removed from a SB......

Non Patriotd fans fail to understand that in 20 years the Patriots rarely had a pick below #20. Roger Goodell has done everything in his power to take away as many picks as possible. He still couldn't slow down the train.

Any other team in the past 20 years not have 5 first round picks and win 6 Super Bowls or even 1 Super Bowl ?

Seattle cuts a guy and ten minutes later he's signed by Houston.

Since that guy was cut, at least 15 others have been released. How come not one other than Milano, who was signed by the team that released him, haven't signed anywhere?

Watkins, Emmanual, etc. They were outrighted yet they aren't talking to anyone? Why are they waiting for the bell to ring??? Why are the patriots and others not ringing their bells??

Teams are first cutting players not worth the money. Obvious thing to do with cap problems.
Shortly, there will be players cut that are worth the money. Tough cap cuts!

Might not be worth the money they are being paid by that team, but might be worth less money and an improvement to another.

Not everyone will be able to sign the best available and they may not want to sign with teams that can afford to pay them.

I think that Jenoris Jenkins, the Saints CB that was let go, would have some interest. So would Van Noy. Just seems a bit odd to me.

Van Noy had an injury filled year in his only year at Miami. $55 million contract is a no-brainer to cap dump.
He is not worth that kind of money.

It's cap dumping time. You have said so yourself!

N0 argument here. Just that solid vets are more than willing to listen for 'less' because they know there are not a big group of buyers. van Noy knows he's not in that $10M+ group, especially in a market where there are so few dollars. Would he be worth $5M or $6M to a team really needs a team leader to pull the LBs together? Or to the Patriots at $4M for a flexible 2 down guy who can rush inside? If he says he wants more tell him that you have many options looking for a job and all the more power to him if he can get more. "Bye"

If you rehire Van Noy it sends a message to our free agents that they can always come back.....

In my opinion, the NFL has become a scam.

Rules are enforced when it's convenient for the league or they want retribution. Rules are enforced when the league sees a need to make themselves look good to the public and keep selling their product.

Then comes the first serious pandemic that no one was prepared to handle and it ravaged the teams and the league.

Instead of enforcing the rules, the league is allowing all of the financial ones to be bent and twisted just to allow the those that refuse to plan ahead, an opportunity to not pay the price of financial stupidity. The problem with doing that is that in the future, this will allow them to do whatever is needed to get what they want and the league won't have a leg to stand on.

It's all for parity. The teams all need to be as close to equal as possible, well, maybe some teams need to be a little more equal than others.

I saw you talk about this on the general board. What rules have they actually broken? Everything so far that teams have done falls very squarely in what is allowed through the CBA. Even before this offseason teams were doing this like crazy. The Steelers did it for a ton of years, Chiefs have been doing it for years, Cowboys, Saints are maybe the biggest culprits of this kind of work on the cap. When you have an owner that can handle the extra upfront cash needed to make these deals work then by all means take advantage of it. They are not breaking any rules.

My guess is more this is you feel it is unfair that the Pats have all this cap space and instead of all these other teams being handicapped because of the cap situation they are finding ways to work around it and still keep a lot of the top players leaving the market pretty bare.

Agreed on the 1st paragraph.

Your guess is flavored. The market is not "pretty bare" I don't think any of us expected every team to cut every player so the Patriots could sign Mahomes etc. Ken is impatient and he is like this every year. Just like you pronounce the end of the Patriots every year.....

I'm grumpy as all hell today. I didn't set my clocks. I screwed up my watch and thought it was 6:58 am and it wasn't. I made my bed, took my morning meds, turned on the coffee. Then I saw the clock on the stove and it was 5:06 am. I had eaten breakfast, done my dishes, made my wife's coffee, showered and gotten dressed by 6:25 am. I wasn't a happy camper. Then I had to be at the VA by 11:00 am to get my second covid vaccination and it felt like I got kicked in the arm by a mule. T make things worse, today is day 34 of my 120 day Nutrisystem diet. I've lost 22 lbs, but was hoping for an average of 6 lbs per week and I'm not quite there. I walk at least a mile every day. Every ther day I do 1000 steps, 100 sit ups with 55 lbs of weight, do 50 400 lb single left lefts with each leg and 50 kneeling twists. All that work and I've only lost 3.5" inches off my waist.

My attitude isn't at it's best and I have 7 weeks to go. My goal is to lose 60-65 lbs and shrink my waist 17". I've got 50 days to do it.

Excuse me, I have to go get my 4th glass (16 oz) of water today.

Sometimes it is to free up cap space. Lots of teams are having to cut players because they are over the cap. You have to be under the cap (top-51 contracts) before the start of the new league year (March 17th). All players cut though have years left on their deals so they would never have factored into the comp pick formula anyway.
3 days now before the new league year.
Cuts are starting to really come now and some will be deep!

To paraphrase, if everyone wins equally every markets fanbase will be pleased enough to hang on.

First Moderna was easy as pie. So far so good with #2. Shoulder felt sore as hell when I got home. Took a 500 mg Naproxen and I feel fine.

Basically the cap. Like I said earlier, the Bears are changing three existing contracts that affected the cap into "Bonus Payments". Now all of that money is re-spread somehow and doesn't effect the 2021 cap. I haven't seen how it's done. If it's respread over the existing contract length or can it be placed as dead money that can be reactivated and spread if that contract is extended?

If teams can move money and play games with it, why bother with a cap?
