my answer is no but the question needs to be asked .

I am not down on darnold nor do i want to miss on him with the 19th pick in play . he could be josh rosen . if we miss with a 2nd or 3rd in acquiring him the damage doesnt sting nearly as much

the other thing is with simply competent QB play we can win more games . we pushed the bucs hard with TH playing competently for that one game

the only real way we can get a franchise qb is to draft one . and we should draft qb every year until we find one ( no not in the 1st round every time for the simps )

I think Carr (but not for 2 1sts ) can help us . i think marriotta can help us , i think taylor can to , even bridgewater . A healthy Allen and even TH should compete

i have looked at his stats and for the absolutely crappy team he plays for he is decent

i just dont see us having the resources to get DW and by not hurting the teams ability to get assets to him so he can compete . mahomes had his assets stripped on the o/line and a middling defense and he couldnt get into the end zone while TH had us in the game almost the whole time

The insight you've gained from a single game is amazing concerning Mahomes. Think it could've been a different game if Tampa isn't gifted two TDs due to iffy n outright terrible calls. And had Chiefs WRs caught 2 passes that hit each Chief receiver in the facemask both of which were in the end zone as well as Kelce dropping a first dn pass early in the game. That 3 to 1 pass to run ratio the Chiefs employed didn't do them any favors either.

No doubt Mahomes had a bad game, but so did the Chiefs as a team, players and coaches.,

Here is how to look at Darnold. Did he fail as a QB in NY? The answer is absolutely.

Does that mean he WILL fail here? Nope.

So is the risk of 19 worth the odds of him being revitalized here? Hell no. Is he worth as second? Hell no.

3rd and below where success rates fall to 10%, sure why not.

It's clear to me that there are some here, who are too focused on getting some wins, when the goal has been and remains winning it all. None of those slugs do anything other than being an slight upgrade over what they currently have, and that isn't saying a lot! Honestly fellow posters, has it gotten to the point where satisfaction comes from making these small improvements?

So, there's always a market for QB's, Washington has to eventually make a smart move that seriously upgrades at QB. Sam Darnold and Alex Smith both played on bad teams and Darnold ranked 29thor 30th in overall QB rankings. Smith was last at 32nd, there wasn't a whole lot of difference between the two. Let's not confuse demand with skill/talent. That said, let me ask you this... How far do you believe that a QB like Darnold takes this team, even if you get all of the "pieces" that you want?

I could be wrong, and of course if Darnold made it here, I would get in line and pull for him. The thing is I just don't believe in him. I'd rather take 19 and draft Surtain, or the MLB from Notre Dame.

I actually have seen more from Heinicke than from Darnold. Now Heinicke is definitely my #2. I know we have to do something, but I'm chasing Carr, Dak, Fields, Wilson, or Winston, before I give up picks for Darnold.
