I'm not sure that Houston will set new precedence by tearing up the newly signed, months old contract in favor of one that makes him the highest paid QB.

Deshaun Watson signs 4 year, $177 million contract extension with the Houston Texans Saturday, September 5, 2020 HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is now a part of the team for a long, long time. Watson has committed to an agreement that keeps him with the Texans for the next four years.
Didn't realize that this was just done. Probably not but I still don't see them letting him walk..

Man...I said this a while back. I didn’t realize it either until I looked it up. That was he quietest 177 million dollar contract in history.

Losing teams = quieting chatter. Just think what Watson might be able to do with a winning organization.

Since we are dreaming, how about we convince buffalo to trade josh Allen to us?

I just read where Buffalo is getting ready to offer him a long term contract that will break the bank.

I think the 3rd overall pick and Tua beats anything we could or would offer. Houston would basically get the pick back that they gave to Houston and Tua. If I'm Houston, I still need more than that, but Watson can control where he goes. No trade clause.

it will cost 2 1st's for sure probably 2 nds and maybe a 3rd

so free agency would have to be used correctly and we would have to hit on our late picks

the things is watson is 25 and he would solve all qb issues going forward

the question is why would houston even consider that nonsense of getting rid of him ?
Because he wants to leave and they literally have no way to improve their team around him anyway as they have traded away their top 2 picks for at least the next 2 years

Yes but having Watson does Houston no good if they can't build around him. Wash becomes a legit NFC title contender with Watson and Houston can start a rebuild

i think as an organization we lose out to the 49ers , dolphins , colts because of our ownership

From our end I think this is what it would take to beat the competition for Watson, if it comes to that.

First a very positive conversation between Rivera and Watson. Rivera telling Watson he's gonna be the MVP of the league like Cam was and he will get him to the SB the way he did with Cam.

He won't have to carry the team. The defense will do all the heavy lifting. We are gonna put Samuel or bring your favorite target Fuller with you through free agency to put opposite McLaurin.

Now to compensation.

Payne, Allen, or Ioannidis (Texans choice)

Maybe that does it.
