I had heard the rumors, but I wasn’t convinced it would actually happen. But the only real possibilities were Luke or Ezra, and Ezra wouldn’t have the impact of a cameo that Luke would have. But when I saw his gloved left hand, I was about 99.8% sure it was him.

I thought the CGI was actually pretty bad. But I forgive it, because they reached pretty far in that scene. It is REALLY hard to match up a human mouth in animation/CGI. I am willing to forgive the “low” quality because the difficulty multiplier was so high.

Ah... it does call back a bit to his youth as he ran with pirates and bounty hunters. But making him a mob boss is a bit odd. Especially one who is a “good guy” (they let the slave girl go).

But why would he pick a back woods planet like Tatooine to set up his shop? Sure, he “knows” the lay of the land, having been there for the last 5-6 years, but the world as a whole kinda sucks. Maybe because he knows that Jabba’s infrastructure is ripe for the taking? You would think that after 6 years, if it were that weak, it would have been taken over already. Likely by another hutt.

I was referring to the big moment in the ep, not the post credits. I missed the goosebumps that would have been there if it would have been a surprise.

Like in Endgame, when the hammer flies to Cap's hand, it comes out of nowhere and gave me chills.

I actually thought it was pretty decent. About as well as you can do given the technology. It was better than Tarkin and Leia, that's for sure. Though I didn't think Tarkin was all that bad either. Leia is definitely a little wonky though. But I'm glad they went the CGI route because seeing and hearing Hamill as Luke is just so impactful. It was such a special moment. The sequels shortchanged us a bit because we never got to see Jedi Master Luke at the height of his powers like you always imagined post-RotJ. This gave us a little taste of that. Now if they use Luke again in any future projects, I hope they recast (Sebastian Stan would be perfect). But for this one moment, this fit.

I didn't really mind the Tarkin or Leia cgi because they were 1. quick cameos and 2. Impossible to do otherwise due to death.

I think for this Luke one though, it was pretty good, but I would have preferred a stand in actor, probably Stan. And with Hamill being such a prolific actor, I'm sure they could have dubbed his voice into the video in a slightly more seamless way if they wanted to.

Kinda nitpicking, but just throwing out how my ideal scene would have been. That was still harass watching him go Rogue One Vader on those droids.

Good read out on that. I took the scene as part of the convo he had with Mayfield earlier in the convoy about how none of that stuff really matters/everyone has a point where things change. And that point came for Mando because he actually loves Grogu as his own kid. And the only way the mission was gonna work was he had to sacrifice his code and remove his helmet. That gets bolstered at the end with the message Mando sends to Gideon where he's basically like "fuck you. give me back MY kid"

Even knowing it might happen I still really liked it. There were a few other candidates but they went with the right one. I thought the CGI and voice were decent. If I had one nitpick it might be the music. It wasn't bad but wasn't epic. Maybe I just need to see and hear it a few more times. It was good at first while the suspense was building, but once it became extremely obvious who it was (after about the 5th and 6th major clues and all that was left was to show the face), I figure they should have switched to the classic score at that point. I guess they didn't want to give it away entirely until we saw the face.

Man it looks like BF (not Boba Fett but the other BF from the post-credit scene) has been eating well the past few years. Funny because sometimes the actors just put on weight so obviously the characters do too. But that wouldn't have been the case here. They made the decision to make that character significantly fatter than when we last saw him. I guess the idea is that he took over his predecessor's diet.
