That's what I'm talkin' about. We're in the dance for the first time in over a decade and knee deep in the division title battle and NOW you want to throw in the towel cuz of politics? Hasn't this dude ever listened to "We Didn't Start the Fire?"
You are an acquired taste @Jiddy but I'm beginning to like your takes. :)

i've made many comments about the black holes in the sox lineup but one of then definitely is disturbing. moncada is a guy i was/am very big on and the more i read about covid the convinced i become that he is, and will be for a time, affected by this damned thing. in fact anyone who has it, even if seemingly asymptomatic, is potentially susceptible to future affects.
i do hope all of you are still as careful as the day you first became aware of how dangerous this virus is/can be. it's going to get worse.

@idseer - Covid brought Moncada's power from homeruns down to triples.

I echo your safety message. Wearing a mask and following the proscribed drill for safety from the virus is not an infringement of my liberty, rather it is a chance for me to contribute to this country as a citizen residing in it.

I wouldn't want to have a three game series with the Yankees -either Chicago or NY. I will say - beating the Yankees in a playoff series will be very tasty. Oakland is the team I'd rather have the Sox face in a three game series. They will start a Lefty in game one.

Anyway it will be fun. This whole season is free - the Sox are playing on house money - no one expected them to make the playoffs this year. The Sox have already out performed the fans expectation. I hope they feel the liberation of that thought - they have nothing to lose.

BTW, is anyone else super happy in our 20/20 hindsight that Hahn did not pull the trigger in trying to land Mike Clevinger? While the latest update has his injury listed as an elbow sprain and that he might get to pitch sooner than originally believed, you have to wonder what the long term status will be, especially when we're talking either elbow or shoulder problems for pitchers. Another reason for the happy happy joy joy is it was believed that the Tribe wanted both Andrew Vaughn and Michael Kopech included in the trade package. It's something we may never fully confirm, but it makes sense that the Tribe would have demanded this much in order to part with a pitcher who'd they likely have to face 4-5 times a year.

They probably knew he was damaged goods already (cynical). That's why the Sox don't do many long deals with Pitchers - especially ones that haven't gotten their 1st Tommy John surgery out of the way and have come back from it.

If the Sox advance - it will be the Astros to beat. Kind of a 2005 reunion feel to it - except the Astros went on to setting baseball records for cheating on a large and sophisticated scale - (obliviously, cheating on a small scale it okay in baseball).

Yeah, when you think about it, we're the last AL Central team standing. We must win today to represent!!!

I read elsewhere that today's game is the first winner-take-all playoff game in White Sox history. Clench your anuses!

Yeah, we're all bummed, but this was a helluva season, asterisks and all. I see a fantastic future in the coming years, which helps dampen today's loss and postseason exit.

Look...We knew that we were never going all the way this season. But I'm gonna take one big positive out of the way these playoffs went.

Now don't get me wrong, beating the A's and getting more playoff game experience under the belt for our young guys was the most beneficial, so that truly makes me sad.

However, there's one big reason we lost today. (insert Renteria joke here) We lacked a legit third starter. (insert this would get renteria out of his own way comment here) This has been a glaring problem since the beginning of the season and never got resolved, which is to be expected based on the youth of some of our guys and the accelerated season.

I've said it from the beginning. I know one thing about Reinsdorf. If he smells a winner, he'll make the big play. There's ZERO DOUBT after today that he and Hahn are talking about who the top SP FA's and/or trade possibilities are right now. It's going to happen. Today ENSURED that. And that's what we need, along with our young core-who (to slightly modify and paraphrase Alexander Hamilton) have a lot of talent but no polish-to make the leap next year and beyond. Today kind of put the whole "we need another starting pitcher that we can fully depend on no questions asked" stamp on our moving forward process. And it's going to happen. I have no doubt.

Here's to 2021!

I'm looking for any update to Crochet's injury. The talk has been forearm stiffness, but I found this tidbit in Sports Mockery:

No doubt a finger blister would be a much better injury to suffer than arm stiffness, which often rings of elbow/shoulder issues and nasty surgery to correct. Let's keep our fingers Xd.

Fingers crossed for sure. It looked to be a problem with his wrist. I am hoping he is a candidate for a starter's job next season along with Kopech.

The two Centrals turned out to be a big disappointment. 7 teams made the playoffs from this combined group, yet none advanced to the next round, and only two wins amongst the bunch. As bad as the AL Central was, its NL counterpart was perhaps worse. The Cubs, Brewers, and Reds combined for a total of 3 runs in their 6 games. That's .5 runs per team per game. Good grief.

We could have been talking about Giolito's huge dong and just how bad the Cheaters are going to eat it tonight right now... Sad panda.
