Yep. Saw him in the AL Central yesterday or the day before. He's outright avoiding all NBA threads. What a coward.

I remember when the Cavs won in '16, all of us still roamed the boards. Even congratulated Wiggy on his team winning the title and told him to enjoy it. Don't see him doing that with Lakers/Heat fans this year (if both teams get into the Finals).

100% true, but the people who win the big money make multiple lineups, often hundreds of looking for that gold nugget.
No doubt. Other than getting lucky the way to win is have a ton of lineups.

Wiggy still in hiding?
Either Riley hasn't lost his fastball, or teams can get much better players a bit later in the draft vs tanking a season hoping to get top 5.
In this case Wiggy he was wrong about both, which is pretty much the norm.
Not wrong when it comes to his own team to be fair......probably not attracting a Jimmy Butler here let alone an elite player. Did not mean to say that as a knock on Butler as I've always liked him. But he isn't among the elite NBA players IMO (top 5-10)

Fair enough. I would say there are arguably better NBA coaches (like Pop perhaps) and better college ones (like Coach K), but none better overall. Just my opinion of course

Well, sure.

But how many top coaches have actually done both?

The true icons of the college game never coached NBA (Wooden, K, Dean Smith, etc) and the best pro coaches never coached college.

Since your GOAT criteria seems to require excellence at both levels, you are automatically excluding many of the greats.

I think there are at least half a dozen other coaches as good or better than Kerr.

That isn’t a knock either, I just think people often tend to overrate results of champions without considering the context of what they had to work with and what the teams’ expectations were based on talent.

While I strongly disagree with your Larry Brown GOAT opinion, I know you wouldn’t have gotten there if you didn’t agree with what I am saying.
I happen to agree with him on Brown....but also with what you just said. Only time both teams were close to full strength Lue did beat Kerr as you mentioned. and, no, I do not think Lue is better.

Happen to think most coaches are the same......give them talent and they might win. Don't and they wont.

I can't put Larry Brown as a GOAT. But he does have a strong strong resume as a really good coach.

- Took a pedestrian Sixers team to the Finals in 2000 and got 1 game from the Kobe-Shaq Lakers at the start of their dynasty.
- Pulled off one of the biggest upset Finals in 2004 ended the Lakers dynasty.
- Won a national title in '88

I can't name too many coaches that won a title in both college and the professional level in basketball. He's the only one I could recall.
Think he also took the Clippers to the playoffs when they were still the Clippers (if that makes sense).

Kerr lucked out IMO

He got two of the best shooters in NBA history hitting their prime just as the entire league was transitioning to the game we have now.

Not saying he's a bad coach, but a prime, healthy Steph and Klay will get you results no matter what in this 'shooters league'. Hell, even I could probably get them 50 wins as a coach.

Yep. I just looked up the thread. Pretty much every active user at the time congratulated the Cavs fans for a remarkable victory.

A case could be made Butler isn't the best player on this team right now and certainly in the future. Leader, sure. Dragic and Bam are playing some damn good basketball. The Heat just have really good depth...if they can finish the Celtics they will try to be a team winning it all with no stars. Been awhile since a team has achieved that.

Today, yes you could.

2015?

That was a legitimate fantastic coaching job.

Again, I am not knocking Kerr. I think he is solidly above average as a coach. Just don’t think he is special. And because he has 3 rings (maybe more eventually?) he will be mentioned with company that honestly he doesn’t belong in.

I feel the same way about Tyronn Lue.

Lots of non-great coaches with 1 ring though.

Problem is Lue was being hailed as a great coach for leading the Cavs to the title.

When the Lakers refused to cave in to his demands last summer people were describing it as a dumb move.

He should at least have enough of a backbone to show up and do what's right. Once your Heat take care of business I'll congratulate all Heat fans. It's the right thing to do. Which is something wiggy knows nothing about.

You don't have to like a team to appreciate their greatness. Just don't be such a pussy about it like @WiggyRuss is doing.

Hell, fuck the Celtics ( :D ) but they have a team full of amazing promising talent that most NBA teams would kill for, and they're definitely a force that is going to be reckoned with once Tatum and Brown reach their prime.

(That hurt to type out btw)

Totally agree with you. I just don't see the Celtics or the Nuggets climbing outta the 3-1 hole they're in. So with a Lakers/Heat Finals match up do you think it's more painful for that biggity-bitch wiggy to see Los Angeles or Miami playing for it all?

For some reason I think it'll be your Lakers. The whole LeBron thing. How he was swining from # 23's jock strap 24/7 to becoming his biggest critic faster than it takes Tyler Herro to hit a 3.
