No More "Bullpen Failure" - maybe
A sweep by either club means that club likely drafts after the other one, but that isn't guaranteed.
Year | Pick | Player | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
1973 | 1 | LHP David Clyde | Teen’s career sacrificed for ticket sales |

From Jeff Passan
"The top of the 2021 draft is loaded, with Vanderbilt's two stud right-handers, Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter, along with a Vandy recruit, Dallas-area shortstop Jordan Lawlar, who some evaluators believe might be the best of the three."
If you get your wish I;m ok with it but I just can't root for my team to lose.makes you pause and think....... ok #3 is good enough?
it sounds like we can’t go wrong picking a Vandy player this year. Give me a damn loss tonight and our chances go up.
Clyde was a great choice. His development was abysmal.Witt and Brown were good choices.
Looking at various websites there is some disagreement on the top few picks. Like Newberg pointed out, there is still a whole season left to play. Rocker and Lieter could stay at 1 and 2, or others could overtake them and move them down.makes you pause and think....... ok #3 is good enough?

I know I'm getting old, but 1872?A look at the occasions the club has drafted in the top four since moving to Texas:

You are right and Brown was head and shoulders the best. Problem was he was our union rep for the Rangers or something like that during strike negotiations and was so ticked off that he did not want to play for the Rangers any longer. At least from what I can remember. Rangers 1st 20 game winner since Fergie Jenkins.Witt and Brown were good choices.
Brown poisoned Kenny Rogers over that as well if I recall. Rogers seemed to get over it eventually, but Brown just got more and more bitter as his career went on.You are right and Brown was head and shoulders the best. Yeah, I think Evan Grant had The Red Barron drafted just a tad early.I know I'm getting old, but 1872?
Me too but Gallo and Oder should sit since they are on the team. Solak should be on 2b and Willie DH.
Glad to see Apostel and Huff in the lineup.
