I'm bored so here we go the futility of Detroit draft picks in the last decade

09 Daye (Lawson, Holliday, teague)
10 Monroe (George, Hayward)
11 knight (Kemba, Klay, Kawhi) OUCH
12.drummond finally nailed one but absolutely crushed the 39 pick with Middleton and trade him for Brandon Jennings along with Knight

13. KCP (Adams, McCollum). Not completely awful

14. Lose their draft pick in a Ben Gordon salary dump so they could sign Josh Smith. Draft Spencer Dinwiddie give up on him and he becomes a fringe all star guy

15 Stanley Johnson (Devin Booker, Myles Turner..and I will be honest I wanted Winslow so I hated the pick immediately. Winslow is also a bust.

16 Henry Ellenson. He has basically not suited up

17 Kennard over Donovan Mitchell. Again a total no brainer even then. Bam also went right after

18 traded for Blair Griffin

19. Sekou (too early)

If someone can show me a franchise that missed on that many picks and decisions in the last decade I'd be very surprised.

Even if they hit on a few of those it's a different ballgame.

Yeah, even just one! Klay, Kemba or Kawhi could have made the difference...but they literally screwed up every pick. Hard to do even just picking out of a hat

June 23, 2011: Traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves with Donatas Motiejūnas and a 2012 2nd round draft pick (Will Barton was later selected) to the Houston Rockets for Brad Miller, Nikola Mirotić, Chandler Parsons and a 2013 1st round draft pick (Andre Roberson was later selected).

IDK...WTF happened on 6/23/2011 but they got Mirotic, Brad Miller and Parsons and they were all flipped. Got Bojan as well, who was flipped for a 2nd and cash. They traded away the eventually pick where Barton was selected. In the end for Flynn they ended up with cash and 2nd round picks it looked like.

I remember donatas was supposed to be pretty good but he got hurt. But damn that was a haul and they fucked that up lol

I should be fair that Parsons was not yet established but still.. trading the 38th pick for cash is pretty crazy.

Phew that's pretty stiff competition. Guess you give the decided edge to the wolves based on historical futility

But the Pistons are trying to get there

Man...Wesley Johnson. That's a terrible pick. And trading Roy. Yikes. The 2011 draft was weird in that everyone had all those bigs going early and the cream of the draft was later.

Yeah that is just bad luck. Laettner isn't a bad pick at 3 with the looks of that draft...just unlucky to not get Shaq or Zo. Who knows at 2 they could have picked Laettner anyway? LOL

Did they lose the lotto?

15 wins 3rd pick, Charlotte had 31 wins and got Mourning. NBA Draft lotto is the worst thing in professional sports. Some teams throw the season to get a better pick even with the lottery in place but not the Wolves we really are that bad!

I think if it wasn't there the tanking would be pretty horrendous. They've had to mess with the odds more after Philly made it an art form

Also losing 3 first round picks for the Joe Smith incident is way to harsh a penalty IMO. Especially when you know that team is gonna be picking top 5 every year.

There's tanking even with the rule and especially in today's game where the players run the league the small market teams literally have no chance. That's the main reason I stopped watching. (I'm going to South Beach)
