This is what I dont understand either. I have my doubts whether Sheffield can be an MLB starter because of his lack of consistency but man at least give him the chance to prove what he cant do. This is the time to be seeing if this guy can hang or not. Who gives a damn about Brian Shaw. Even if he got out of that inning what does that matter in the grand scheme of things. But while we are speaking about Brian Shaw we best not be on the roster come game time. He's basically the next Casey Fien.

I can’t really be to hard on Sheffield. It’s much like how people couldn’t be mad the Montero was a crappy C. When Sheffield came over most everyone said he projected as a bullpen arm just as most people said Montero could hit but couldn’t field. Now Dipoto on the other hand seems like he is just looking at a chart and regardless of the situation he is going to use it with his pitchers instead of going with feel, especially since his bullpen sucks.

Sheffield can show brief flashes where he can make hitters look silly. Its just not constant and his release point is all over the place. With a 2 seam and a slider that maybe has potential I can see him in a relief role long term which would add velocity to his fastball. Maybe something like an Andrew Miller type if we are lucky.

But yeah ideally thats not what we should have gotten for Paxton

Too be fair here but what has Paxton proven as of yet? Sure he’s got a no no, hasn’t won 20 games, no all star appearance.
I m not saying the trade was one sided to the Ms but James still can’t make it though a whole season healthy

At least this season will be short. So there's that as well.

Hopefully someone goes out there to tell him...

"No need to mess up the strike zone; we can suck just fine without your help, thank you very much."

It's not a competitive year...

Best. pick. possible!
Best. pick. possible!
Best. pick. possible!

The Astros didn't go worst to first by being mildly competitive for years on end.

I hope Lewis, White, and Crawford ball out, but who gives a shit about wins right now?

I agree I was on board for saying lets just tank as many games as we can because its only a 60 game season but there is something about watching our 1st round picks struggle that makes me feel hopeless. White is striking out a ton right now

Lots of good young hitters strike out a lot against MLB pitching. It's about learning and adjustment. The point is let the kid struggle and learn. Let's not crucify him for going through that gauntlet in a season that shouldn't matter, because hopefully he's better for it in the seasons ahead, where his production will matter because the team is competing.

Yeah I agree with this short 60 game season in which I don't know who is really taking it serious at this point we might as well have the younger players play and try and grow. My only concern is that so far having 40 at bats and almost 20 strikeouts that is a very steep learning curve. Kyle Lewis strikesout a lot too but he has put together some good at bats at the same time. We are paying White over the next 6 years which was a little controversial giving a minor league player a long term contract like that. I don't intend to crucify him but I will intend to crucify Dipoto because drafting him, developing him, and paying him early was his call.

Idk. Dunn is still very raw but I think it said something that he was able to battle back into the game after a rough first inning. Little things like that are things I try and take positives for at this point.

4-8, on pace for 20-40 which seems pretty fair. Hopefully thats a top 3 pick. Im pretty confident this team wont win much, they are gonna be underdogs almost every game. The final score just wont matter that much, especially if its guys in the bullpen that wont be here next year getting beat up. Honestly just try and stay healthy
