Stewart haas sucked in the beginning.
All the moves were for improving Stewart's team. Stewart had actually apologized to Ryan for not giving him a championship caliber team. Danica got there & brought more sponsorship dollars. When Harvick was brought in was when they revamped the teams completely from scratch. I dont think harvick would have came over if they stayed the same. Could have even been a demand of his. Harvick went to SHR at a perfect time to do so.
but if harvick would have started at HMS or JGR or a team like that.
His #'s would be up there with DW & Allisons.

I wouldn't say sucked, but RCR was at a low point from 2007-2009 as well. Stewart was winning from the get go, and Harvick is just as good if not better than Stewart, and while I think Newman is an excellent driver, he's a couple notches bellow them.

Just to be clear. I am not arguing Newman is on par with Harvick.
But SHR as an organization sucked. Everything went into making Stewarts team better. Ryan got maybe the worst pit Crew known to man, while they kept tweaking on Tony's team. he was stuck with a top 3 worst CC until finally Ryan complained loud enough they brought Matt Borland back. (near Ryans end) Tony & Ryan were friends, which is how he got Ryan to come over, but what Tony really liked in Ryan being a teammate. He was smart about the cars. Which ryan being tony's teammate also helped Tony (with his own car) that team when it started. was a back filler team. Which is why Gene Haas gave Tony half the company. To get it on its feet. Those race cars in the beginning were dogshit. Which is why Tony & Ryan were perfect to get it going off the ground.
Tony is one of the top drivers out there & Ryan can drive the shit out of a bad handling car (get more out of it than it should) Cant win with it, but can get better finishes than it deserves. Wasnt until years later that SHR as a whole was respectable race team. Didnt help that Haas didnt care for Ryan either. they just never would try & improve that team.

Like I said. It was good timing for Harvick (or lucky Austin was moving up to make him realize he had to get out) if Harvick would have left earlier for SHR he would have just found another RCR type team (or worse)

I feel bad for Ryan actually. I wish he hadnt left penske to help tony.
He helped build up SHR only for Haas to give him the boot when things were looking up.
Went to RCR (you already know how that team is)
Now with Roush to try & rebuild that team. He does a lot of the leg work on underwhelming teams.
Would have loved to have seen him land at JGR & the race teams Gibbs always has for all of his teams.

But oh well. I just get to watch him finish his career trying to rebuild another team.

His career could look completely different if he had made a different decision early on.

I had always figured that the main reason they dumped Newman was because he had a hard time attracting sponsors and Danica was of course a sponsor magnet at the time. Agree about Ryan's talent. He was usually good enough to get into the chase but was never really a threat to win it.
For SHR, the main thing that they had working in their favor was that I believe they got all their stuff from Hendrick, which at the time was top notch.

Danica and Newman were teammates for a year at SHR. But Harvick has Budweiser and Jimmy Johns tied to him when he came over. Harvick brought in sponsors and he was an upgrade in the driver’s seat too.

Newman damn near stoke that championship his first year at RCR though.

That’s right, I was getting my years mixed up. I might be thinking of the year they brought Kurt Busch in due to Haas wanting him and would self sponsor Busch, leaving Newman out of a ride.

That was a throwback win for Harvick. That's how his wins for RCR usually came. Run mid pack first half of the race, keep adjusting the car, and use a little strategy for pit position and get the lead late and win.

First win at Pocono. 52nd win of his career.

Bubba Wallace did all he could to be a factor in the outcome by racing Harvick hard and moving over for Hamlin.

Truck race is gonna be the last truck left running. Haven't completed a full laps under green yet after two tried, 4 trucks are in the garage area, including two with championship hopes that needed a good run today.

I bet on Brett Moffitt, so that's who I'm pulling for.

Ultra aggressive from the get go. Guess that's why they have a truck series, so they can get that out of their systems.

Normally the younger the driver the more aggressive they are. The truck series is a good place to see if they can balance the aggressiveness with keeping the truck in one piece.

Now they are wrecking on pit road.:L:lol:

Not that I'm disappointed to see a Joe Gibbs car tore up, but it's ridiculous that it took a car nearly wrecking and a car completely wrecking before they decided to clean up oil on the track. Racing slicks and liquid aren't a good combo.

Truck and Busch races have been wreck fests. Cup race probably won't have a caution for contact all race.

God damn, pretty much every major team driver has crashed today. I like Justin Haley, and I like Kaulig Racing, but he flat out right reared Riley Herbst, that might be a fight after the race.

And this last one, Noah Gragson is a little bitch, and I think Myatt Snider might have been getting payback from Las Vegas, but if you're gonna get revenge, don't take out innocent bystanders.

This is getting fucking ridiculous. This is like 4 races in a row with a weather delay. Maybe run the main event earlier in the afternoon so you can get it in as scheduled, especially since there's no fans to worry about. Let the Busch drivers worry about the late afternoon popup storms.

TV. But when NASCAR was it's height of it's popularity most races started at noon. This is the first year I have watched most every race in probably 10 years and noticed all the late starts.

Literally every east coast game in every other sport is a 1 PM EST start(other tan select NFL games and possibly the Sunday night baseball game).

Take last Sunday, they could have got the race in on Sunday afternoon with a noon or 1 PM start time, but they went for a 3:30 start time at a track with no lights during the summer in the south where pop up afternoon storms are a near daily occurrence.
