Game Thread: Let The Games Begin.....

Well, it sounds like on July 23rd or 24th we'll see the season opener. Watching the games on the TV but no fans in the seats. Will be a strange line up of teams playing but I guess it might be better than nothing. 2020 is a messed up year all the way around. For Washingtonians, our Gov says we ALL have to wear masks until either a vaccine is available or an approved treatment modality is available. Sounds to me like mask for probably the rest of the year.

Well thank you NWinAZ I thank you for sharing with a few of us to move over to this forum!! ( I do miss MarinersBestFan though) I used "Game Thread" kinda as a joke but I truly am glad we'll at least get a good chance to see some of the young talent Jerry has scored over the off season. Am looking forward to watching Servais F up again. I've missed getting PO'd at him too.

I really have no idea what to expect at all if this ends up happening. My hope is they just treat it like a 2 month tryout for 2021 and let alot of the kids get playing time.

Agreed. With everything that's been going on in this country, I was getting so bothered by the pettiness going on with the negotiations and knowing the the all mighty dollar was such a big part of those negotiations - I've pretty much had it with the ownerships of professional sports teams.

I haven't heard anything about this, but ideally I'd hope the league would waive the starting clock for this season and we could just let the high ranked kids play. Why not just treat this like an extended Spring and throw Kelenick, Evan White, etc out there as much as possible. There wouldn't be as much pressure on like there was with Zunino when we rushed him.

I agree with what you're saying but unfortunately I really think it might end up being a super competitive 60 game "in division" cluster. Can't wait to see how Servais uses his pitching staff and playtime for the regulars. Can't imagine Seager accepting a day off.

Thank you for posting the complete 60 games schedule. I am curious....does anyone know if there is a plan for any post season playoffs this year or is it just only the 60 games??

The goal is to play the 60 games and then go into the postseason as normal, and end with a WS champ. Which is why many feel this will lead to a * for whoever wins. Which is why I believe Seattle Will get to WS, because it would be True to the Blue or the Mariner way.

Yep, that's probably the only way they'd get to the WS, but I'd be surprised if they even made it to post season, whatever that would look like.

Well this season flies in the face of what a baseball usually. It’s always been you will win 60, lose 60 but whatever you do with other 42 decides your fate.
