I have an addition question on this. I have been researching them and notice they all have different GB capacities. Does this mean if I get an Xbox with only 4GB I can't play any game that has more than that(such as Bioshock or something)?

No its more storage space for saving games music and downloads etc....

Most people get the 4GB one and then add an external hard drive.

I would just stick with going with the 256GB Xbox.

Yeah if you get the 4GB Xbox you'll have to buy some kind of hard drive as some games cannot be played without one. You can buy a hard drive or you can format and use a flash drive. If you decide on Xbox, I'd recommend going with the 250 GB hard drive version, especially since you won't be buying it. ;) It's just easier, plus 250GB is probably more disk space than you'll ever need.

Given my lack of computer skills probably for the best to get an all in one package. Still though, $300 seems a bit steep and that's without any games. Definitely can't get them coffee mugs or keychains in return :L

I just got a 360 bundle at Best Buy for 199.99. 250GB XBox 360, with headset/controller, 3 months of online for free and two games (Halo Reach, Fable 3), I bought Skyrim though, and will be trading those two games in towards Gears of War 3 and NHL12.

Hopefully Skyrim keeps me enticed or I will be getting the latest Final Fantasy. I just heard nothing but good remarks about Skyrim, have to give it a shot.

PS3 without question. All a 360 is is a 360. PS3 is a blue ray player, a PS3, a PS2, a PS1. For someone who likes to keep games and play them years later, nothing beats a PS3.

Well from all the online opinions and people I've talked to, it seems the PS3 is far and away the better option. Now I'm really confused.

There are a few cases where games simply cannot run on a 4gb xbox. Not enough internal memory to load and cache everything. Also, you can install games to the hard drive, which can help them load faster (in many cases significantly) and sometimes improve graphical quality. I've not run across a game that takes up more than 8 gigs, and most are around 6, so theoretically you'd be fine with a 20 gig, but I'd recommend more just so you don't have to delete and reinstall things all the time. 250 will be more than enough, but you'll probably be fine with a 120 or even a terrible little 60 like I have if you don't mind managing the installed games every now and then.

SYSTEM PROS AND CONS TIME:

Xbox 360

Best exclusive titles:
Gears of War series, Halo 3/reach, Lost Odyssey

Pros:

- Has the best online service (fewest outages, can play with lots of folks, probably the largest online community)
- Good all around option
- Much better graphics than the Wii

Cons:
- You have to PAY for the online service
- Largest online community means largest density of assholes

PS3 (caveat I don't own one):

Best exclusive titles: MGS4, Uncharted series, Killzone, God of War 3, Resistance series, 3D Dot Heroes, possibly Persona 5

Pros:
- Free online service
- Most powerful system
- Bluray player
- Sixaxis controller is like motion controls

Cons:
- Most expensive system
- online service goes out more often than others
- Has been hacked into a few times
- The sixaxis controller is a fucking terrible version of motion controls

Wii:

Best exclusive titles: Super Mario Galaxy series, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda, No More Heroes series, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl

Pros:
- Free online service
- Motion controls, especially with the new MotionPlus stuff
- WiiFit is an interesting way to exercise.
- Did I mention Mario and Zelda?

Cons:
- Motion controls are highly limited by the way games use them, and many game developers use them poorly
- WiiFit is a really expensive way to exercise
- Easily the least powerful system
- THE NEXT GEN SYSTEM IS COMING OUT IN SIX MONTHS
- If you are an idiot you can throw your controller through your TV. Technically this is true of the other two systems, but far less likely.

I'm trying really hard to avoid buying a Wii right now. I really, really, REALLY want to play Skyward Sword (the newest Zelda game), but I can't justify a $100 purchase that will because last gen in 6 months.
