Tonight Washington State gets locked down excepting essential businesses. We will all be busy posting here I'm thinking. Heck I'm already tired of watching TV, might have to start reading books again. Got plenty to read.

I better because being almost 65 with 2 heart attacks, doubt I'd survive the virus. I try to be as safe as possible. Actually my biggest worry is paying bills without a income.
My wife is a health care provider for UCHealth, they're covering utilities (gas, electric, water, trash, even phone and car payments) up to $1500 a month for their employees. That piece of mind is great to have.

I've been hearing the United way has programs that'll cover a lot of those expenses, and, our utility providers in our area are foregoing disconnections for non payment until the national emergency has been lifted, still gotta pay the bill eventually though, perhaps theres similar things with some of yours? And, hopefully this bill snailing its way the Congress sufficiently addresses the rest, quickly.

Might be a tough road to get that bill passed, being stuffed with so much pork it's not palatable, but I'll hush with the political aspect.

Agreed, and same. Fingers crossed, hoping that regardless of politics, everyone comes together to keep the country moving, whatever that ends up being

I got passed. Both sides doing nonsense for a public win rather than a clear win for the people that give them the very power they abuse.

On ESPN this morning they were asking for suggestions how MLB should go about bringing games back (or somethibg to that effect).

Lets say this pandemic hits its peak in a couple months like the experts are saying.

If you have middle class workers out of work for 4 months, as they dig their way out of the overdue bills they will be faced with, there is no way they would consider going to an overpriced baseball game.

Not everyone makes 6-figures. And a lack or work for several months is going to ruin a lot of families. My point is, just returning to work wont make life "normal" again. Theres gonna be a recovery period for a lot of families.

No doubt. A lot is going to depend on all this government assistance and how employers keep their workers going, or keep them paid...some instances there is $$ to pay employees just to stay home..and the unemployment plus $600 thingy, should keep most afloat, so there at least exists the possibility that getting back to work full time will be near normal. I have faith and hope for the best. The structure is there to minimize the hit...long as its not extended forever.

Early reports from some of those eastern Asian countries seem promising that the worst is behind them, we aren't that far behind...if we keep doing what we're supposed to.

This is from a relative who has contacted a former international work associate:

I contacted a sales engineer, who lives in the Montreal area. He had posted some information on Facebook that England is giving 80% pay to workers, 70% in Denmark and Canadians are getting $2k a month for the next 4 months in comparison to the $1200 in the US.

if comparing apples to apples, Canada amt is $1400 USD....but it's comes every month for 4 months, so still WAY more than US.

Canada has free health care too. Pretty sure most of Europe does too.

without a doubt - i know the FF board rules are pretty clear to keep politics out, but I don't think either side of US political spectrum truly gives a damn about everyday folks. I try to stay up-to-date and read articles from both sides, and they both just come off as greedy assholes, imo.

I don't think its as easy as the US is "only" giving 1200 per person. The unemployment plus $600 allows out of work people a chance, in some cases to collect up to and over %100 of thier salary. And a the social safety net programs got boosted. That might not make everyone whole..but, theres more out there than just the $1200

Now, now... don't listen to everything ya hear... :)

3 weeks for my non emergency.
Specialist surgeries might be a wait...pending where you hang your hat, or the severity, or your consistency to check in and request...urgent comes first, of course.
Emergencies are front of the line...
like anything, abuse plays a factor, as does population density and location....but income does not.

But I digress.

Hope you all stay safe.

Heck that nothing. my company laid off numerous employees across their branches including me and I've worked their for over 20 years. Those who are left are taking turns working every other day. Think they'll be shutdown any time. The cure isn't no joke for this virus.
On the bright side, got all the time I want for SportsHoopla and FF.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I just read this and wanted to say how sorry I am Harold. That seriously sucks!!

No stay at home orders here yet, but all of the people that are under stay at home orders or have a state that is on lockdown seem to think that it's perfectly fine for them to pack their shit up and come to Florida. We've had a ton of people drive down from New York in the last week to the area. One cashier at Publix (grocery store for those that don't have them) posted on Facebook that in the period of her shift she had 10 people say that they were stocking up their houses because they just got back down here from a different state or something like that. When one guy said that he was down from New York one of the people behind him in line said, "You know you're supposed self-quarantine for two weeks if you're coming from New York right?" and the New Yorker said that, "He didn't care what order they gave, he's stocking up his food." That was yesterday. And that's why all of this shit will last a lot longer than it has to, because of stupid jackasses like that.
