I always forget why some players are worth more than the amount of seasons they played.
Yea but Ruth and Johnson played full careers.

If you'd like to go over all players who's careers began prior to 1933 and assign them a dollar value please feel free, i'm actually serious, we would use it.
I've offered to do it based upon season WAR before or some other metric but never got a response really. While I dont neccesarily feel that is completely fait either. I could at least just use it for pre 33 players and give them a generated All Star value.
Baseball reference uses 5+ as All Star Level. We'd probably generate more numbers than there are spots but we are counting everyone that Could have been an all star then obviously the newswrites/m fans all star mistakes still to this day.
If we're going to use ASGs as a cap number, we shouldn't use players before 1933.
I don't see the point in doing a combo draft and having h2h votes separately.
So you want rankings again? That is always tough to rank
The problem is WAR is not a great stat and using one stat we have tried for different drafts but it’s just easier to set a price, of course not all with be valued great, most too high and some too low. If you used # of seasons or really just a single metric we would have the same issue. We would have to generate a sheet of all players pre-1933 and set a price for each then anytime we have a cap draft we go by that sheet or something idk
Why do you believe WAR is not a great stat?
I don't believe its perfect but there is a large correlation to perception of great players and the WAR numbers.
It also encompasses offense defense and baserunning and pitching so its not a single stat but a culmination of many.
I dont like it in things like the MVP discussion because WAR is context neutral. But it has its merits in the big picture.
