I doubt Giannis would ask to be traded. I think he'll give it this year and next.

But if they don't make the finals this year or next, I think he'll be gone via FA.

then the warriors need to have the room to add him. Which means getting rid of the draymonds fat disruptive ass...

I think Giannis would look much better in a Lakers uni than Warriors.

Don't you?

Bottom line: I’m either clearing salary to sign a superstar for summer 2021 or I’m hoping for Boston to beat mil in round 2 so Giannis asks out and you happen to have the high pick (plus multiple other picks) to give yourself a shot.

Exactly this... As I said in my early statement, if they would decide to go over the cap this summer, it means that they are ruling themselves out of chasing Giannis.

But if instead, they'll trade one of their big contracts and dump salary by doing it, they will get another TPE for the next season and then they can be in a position to chase Giannis (if available), or other top player (if Giannis isn't available).

IMO, the only scenario that may cause GSW to go back into the cap next season, is if the Lakers fail to make it to the WCF and then there is a "storm" hitting the Lakers which may lead to AD looking elsewhere... That's why they stocked the TPE... Small probabilities, but not impossible.

I'm not sure i see a path to that. Doesn't Bron and Brow take them out of the max cap space for it?

Lebron's a free agent in 2022 (if he doesn't retire) and has a $41M player option for 2021, while Giannis is a free agent in 2021. So yes, Lakers are out. Of course, this is assuming Brown re-signs this summer as expected.

Well, they were able to clear enough cap space to go after Kawhi this past off-season and I think most of the roster is on 1 or 2 year deals.

I think that's also Lebron's option year.

In all seriousness, I'd be surprised if Giannis were to go to the Lakers. I think that, like everyone else, they'll try to clear space and will make a run at him.

But I'm not sure he'd be that excited about going to a team where the approach might be..."we're going to add you to AD, 37 year old Lebron and then try to find 12 more decent players to fill the roster".

They had cap space for Kwahi, because they still had empty roster spots which were not filled and could sign min. contracts to fill them up in case they would land Kwahi...

But after they've signed Green and KCP in 2 year deals and even more so, after KCP and Rondo have "trade blocking provision" on their contracts, they can only renew AD on a supermax and then only sign min. contracts out of free agency...

The moves they will be able to do via trade after extending AD, will be very limited and of non impactful salary with Kuzma and the low-1st this season being the only valuable assets...

I think they will only be able to use part of the MLE and not all of it too, with the Apron projected to be at 147M for next season.

Yes, but not by match... The lux tax threshold was expected to be at 141M and it settled at 139M for next season, the Apron will be some 8.5M on top of the lux tax threshold.

Warriors can draft that center from Memphis who is no longer playing this season. They'd be able to keep Wiggins, have Curry and Klay and a promising young Center.

That be a pretty good team. If Kerr is any type of coach the guys currently playing this entire season should be relatively developed and add some really good depth next year for GS and at least be able to get one rising star out of this season.

Im questionable about wieseman.

How many centers are making top pick level impact without being either an elite defender or can stretch the floor?

Yeah... Besides, centers were never important for GSW's style of game... It would be a waste to spend a lottery pick and future salary on a Center and then for this exact team in particular...

There's just a lot of questionables overall in this draft. It'll be interesting to see where the Warriors draft. If they land the 3rd or 4th pick, then they'll probably go after Wiseman. If they landed the 1st pick, I think it's gotta be Anthony Edwards. Obi Toppin is another interesting one, but he's also a hybrid forward and the Warriors already have Paschal which they're still not sure what to do with him.

And to be honest, as much as the Warriors would want to avoid a Ball brother, I think they would consider it. Given Ball's size and ball skills he actually might be nice next to Steph and Klay.

not only that but it would be impossible to add him to LeBron and Davis once DAvis signs his new extension that he will be in line for this offseason (ASSUMING he does).

so pipe dream over.

True. Right now, only Lebron's option is on the books (other than Luol Deng's annual 5M....arrrghh) for 2021. However, that 41M, plus another what, 36M for Davis, not to mention Kuzma's pending extension (although if Giannis were an option, Kuzma would be gonzo...) against currently an estimated $125M cap? It could be done (and it's exactly why all these players would be on short contracts).

Obi-Wan.......if the CAvs are more towards 4 or 5 i think he would def. be an interesting option.

He has Dayton at #4!!!

Id think Davis would be more than 36...

and with the stagnated payroll because of the issues with China the cap is not expected to go up as much as it initially was.

looks like Davis would be eligible for at least 5 years 202.

Honestly I have no idea who's top players this year in CBB. Probably won't know until March Madness. There just hasn't been a stand out all-star player in CBB this year like in years past where you hear their names all the time, like Zion.
