Any top 5 list without Jim Brown is invalid.

it kind of amazes me how little credit Eric Dickerson gets. Everyone knew he was getting the ball & still he couldnt be stopped.

For a good 4 or 5 years, Dickerson was without question the best running running back in the NFL. However, the knock on him then as is to a point today the same knock on Peterson, is neither has ever been known to throw a good block and their receiving skills were/are sub average.

There will probably never be a player more fun to watch than Barry but he had limitations and just wasn't a complete back IMO. Taken out often on short yardage and goal line situations, wasn't a very good receiver, didn't block, too many negative runs that hurt his team. I am not trying to knock Barry but if I needed a back for the most important game of my life, he's not in my top 5.

Is AP a complete rb? Just wondering. Becasue Barry averaged more yard per game (99.8- 2nd all time) than AP (86.7- 8th all time). The receiving yards per game are about the same. Sanders- 2.3 catches per game & 19.1 yards / AP- 1.8 catches per game & 14.4 yards.

Stats are from profootballreference.com.

If Bo had stayed healthy and not have his career cut short, I don't doubt for a moment that he would have been in this top 5 conversation with just about everyone. For those few healthy years, he was deadly.
