It funny, but 2000 OU had pretty similar records. 4 wins over the AP top 10 and an additional win over #12 Texas and #23 A&M. Great stats, but nobody is claiming that as a team anywhere near the best ever.

Not in their favor - Didn't have a heisman trophy winning QB, less wins over AP top 10, less wins over AP ranked, 7th ranked total offense.

In their favor - 00 OU team had a much better defense, 7th in comparison to LSU's 31st (I believe)

In their favor, OU had the Heisman Runner-Up (Hueppel) @ QB, and OU's defense held the Heisman Winner's (Weinke) Offense to 0 points in the Orange Bowl. The Sooners did give up a safety on a bad punt attempt in their 13-2 Orange Bowl victory though.

Sorry but a Josh Heupel led OU team is not beating Burrow and this LSU offense.

Well, he's fat now! lol. I was just making the point that the fact that he wasn't the Heisman Winner was irrelevant. FSU had the Heisman winning QB and was shutout offensively. Not many thought OU could hang with the Seminoles offense in the Orange Bowl, but the Sooners did just fine. FWIW, it's pointless to compare two different teams from two different eras and totally different styles of ball. Both were GREAT teams in their individual years.

Its different times. Best total offense is pretty hard to prove. OU averaged more yards per game in 2018 and 2017.. LSU would rank 7th in yards per game amongst the national leaders in total offense the last decade. Playing an extra game and saying the most yards is pretty ingenuous.

2000 OU is definitely a dominant team, definitely not denying that. And I've always had an issue comparing two teams/players from different eras of sports against each other, but this LSU team was something special. It was almost like it was destiny for Burrow to win this Natty.

Definitely get that argument. It's really tough to compare different players/teams from different eras. The type of football played 20 years ago just isn't the same right now.

Nebraska only trailed for 1 and a half minutes their entire season ...

Nebraska scored enough points in one quarter in 8 of their games, to win. Florida and Kansas are a part of those 8 games.

Nebraska scored enough points in the first half in 11 of their 12 games to win.

While only playing one less team that finished in the top 10.

Special season but doesn't hold a candle to what Nebraska did in 1995.

I said it earlier. The best ever comes down to Nebraska and Miami. Picking between those to is a hell of a fight. Outside of that, I dont see it.

Be sure to check my out the other Fun Fact in the previous page.

Fun fact #2: 95 Nebraska only trailed in 2 quarters.... the ENTIRE season. The first quarter against Washington St where the quarter ended 7-0 and the first quarter against Florida when it ended 10-6.... the final of those games were 35-21 (with a late garbage TDs from WSU, 4th started 28-7 with the back-ups) and 62-24 respectively.

Fun Fact #3: I'm feeling generous. 95 Nebraska averaged 400 yards rushing per game, including over 520 yards rushing against #2 Florida in the National Championship. 2019 LSU gave up 400 yards rushing to a 4-7 Ole Miss team.

Fun Fact #4: See Below...

2019 LSU
48.4 PPG
21.8 PPG allowed
Avg MOV = 26.6 points.

1995 Nebraska
53.2 PPG
14.5 PPG allowed
Avg MOV = 38.7 - despite Nebraska resting its starters in the second halves of most games.

Fun Fact #5: 1995 Nebraska had the #2 total offense and the #13 total defense. #4 scoring defense

2019 LSU had #1 total offense and the #31 total defense. #32 scoring defense.

Both teams were #1 in scoring offense.

Here is a fun fact, just think about this for a minute.... Nebraska scored enough points in at least one quarter to win... 8 of their games and Florida and Kansas fall into that category.

Also, Nebraska scored enough points in the 1st half to win 11 of their 12 games. The one standout? actually is that Washington State game where the reserves fumbled the ball late and cost a score. Nebraskas offense didn't need to play in ANY 4th quarters... including against all 4 top ten opponents.

2019 LSU is a great team and if you google it now, many people are updating their GOAT lists with them... but they are putting them around 3-5 and that is respectable.

Did they? They trailed practically the entire first quarter against Washington State and also trailed for more than a minute in the National title game.

They can score all the points they want but their competition was much worse than LSU's this year. LSU played more ranked teams, beat more ranked teams, beat more top 10 teams, the list goes on.

Both teams had great seasons. At worst, it's 1A and 1B.

Was the competition Nebraska played in 95 as good as the competition LSU played this year? 7 ranked teams including the last 2 national champions. Those stats are great, but it's different eras of football. You can't really compare the two using average statistics, especially when the competition isn't the same. It's like arguing who the best player in the NBA is and saying MJ is better than LeBron or vice versa. Can't properly compare the two because it's different eras of play, with different styles and different plays.
