Super Conference?

I'm getting nostalgic about the pre-playoff times and the polls determining the National Champ.

LSU vs UGA
OSU vs Wisky
Clemson vs Baylor
Utah vs OU

4 winners make the playoff. Nothing wrong with that

Superconferences would ostensibly create a separation from P5 and G5 ( even more than now ,). Especially if you grant the playiff spots only to conference winners .

Youd badically be creating 2 separate divisions without technically doing it

Bring in relegation. If you are in the bottom 4, you get moved down to G5

Relegation in cfb would be tough because of geography and scheduling but if you could figure all that out id like the idea

I'd love to see the power conferences whittled down to four. Each conference would have 16 teams.

SEC, ACC, B10, and P12

The four conferences could then start looking for how to fill up it's 16 team conference. 64 teams total. Each conference is split into two 8 team divisions.

* You would play 7 division conference games.
* Two games against the other division in your conference
* Two OOC Power 4 teams
* One OOC team from wherever you want (or another Power 4 team if you like)

I think this would be a great set up. Force an independent like Notre Dame to join, or miss out on the playoffs.

Yeah, me too. I mean, we still have just as much bickering and arguing about who really was the best team in any given year, all through the BCS and now with this plus-1

I wouldn't mind a super conference depending on how it was set up but it isn't going to solve the bitching and complaining and an 8 teamer won't either. We are just fine where we are at right now.

When an outsider tries to change something so it would be more appealing to them is gonna do nothing but ruin it for the millions of dyhards of a billion dollar college sport.

Why would OSU and Wisky play each other again in this scenario? Especially when Baylor and Oklahoma wouldn't have to play each other again.

High school has it figured out. The NFL has it figured out. Why can’t the NCAA figure it out. It’s not that hard. As a matter of fact I think college should adopt NFL rules. Why? prepare the college athlete for the NFL, hence probably better officiating

I like that idea even better.

I have been saying for years that the P5 should have their own official division.

We should have relegation like European football does.


Every year the top four G5 teams get to be in the P5 conference and the bottom 4 P5 teams play in the G5.

Eventually it will happen but it will kill March Madness. The NCAA makes pretty much all their money from the tournament and it's too big a pie for this super division not to go after it.

Money is going to make this happen and the NCAA will effectively be killed off and the "Super Division" will exploit their power to capture as much of it as possible.

We can’t even find 4 good teams most years. Semi-finals are always blowouts. Only 3 teams really deserve it this year.

3 teams this year. But they have to pick a fourth.
