A lot of people are talking about solving the BCS problem with a super conference.

Can you guys elaborate on that? What would it look like?

I think it would be cool to have four regions like a Southeast, Northeast, Northwest, and Southwest Region.

Then you could have something like 32 teams in every region.

From their you could create a conference schedule based on last year's record. The top teams would have the hardest schedule and the bottom teams the easiest.

Then at the end of the season you have a regional championship and the to four teams play for a championship.

The BCS problem was solved in 2014.

But what happens if 2 of the 4 best teams are in 1 region? Clemson,Bama,LSU, and UGA are in the same region. Ohio State is the only team outside that region that can consistently keep up

It would have been with a 6 or 8 team playoff
We can’t even find 4 good teams most years. Semi-finals are always blowouts. Only 3 teams really deserve it this year.

This will be the first year that LSU has finished in the top 10 in the final CFP ranking. They have not been 'consistent'.

Ok. But still, I think everyone would agree right now the 4 best programs are Clemson,Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State....3 of those are in the same region.

And all UGA has to do to punch their ticket is beat LSU.

Only the top two teams from any given region go to the region championship. End of story.

But those three teams would have been the top teams in that region from the previous year and therefore would have had a head to head tie breaker.

40% of the champions have been the 4 seed. The 1 seed has never won. Tough to say the committee is getting the only obvious choices based on the track record so far. I would rather have more teams and getting the right teams in there rather than going with the current setup.

Super conference is a stupid idea. Creating a super division that just has the P5 conferences with 14 teams each? That makes sense.

Personally i like the idea of 4 16 yeam superconferences with the CCGs acting as defacto quarterfinals and the 4 league champs going to the playoffs. It wouldnt be that tough geographically either. Of course youd need ND to finally join a league but a move like this would force their hand

I like that idea even better.

I have been saying for years that the P5 should have their own official division.

We should have relegation like European football does.

Every year the top four G5 teams get to be in the P5 conference and the bottom 4 P5 teams play in the G5.

Superconferences would ostensibly create a separation from P5 and G5 ( even more than now ,). Especially if you grant the playiff spots only to conference winners .

Youd badically be creating 2 separate divisions without technically doing it

Pretty much but youd force ND into a league and create. In essence , an 8 team playoff without having to make it ",legal"

I'm getting nostalgic about the pre-playoff times and the polls determining the National Champ.
