I mean, who wouldn't love to watch those games.

Just winning a conference championship game (which is nothing more than an money grab anyway) should not be an automatic criteria.

But isn't it this way for every other College sport on the face of the planet???

I've long been a proponent of the 8 teams with the advent of a playoff system in super-conferences of the P5 structured era.

Tired of hearing the wailing & gnashing of conference champ snubs. This fixes that 'dilemma' and still allows for three more debatable spots.

Win-win for eryone, IMO.

Heres the thing though, I think in most years, an argument can be made there is not much difference between teams 1-8. 9 and 10 a lot less so. Certainly there is almost no difference between teams 3-8. So I don't think there is that much DEBATE about the 3 extra spots. At the same time, I think that if spots 3-8 can go to teams that are better than potential coference champions, then they get in regardless.

It certainly is for basketball. But just because that's how its done in other sports isn't terribly compelling. For decades they chose a national champion in unconventional means.

No, it won't necessarily be the top 8 teams.

1. P5 Conference Champs get in automatically.

2. Highest Ranked G5 team gets a spot.

3. No Conference gets more than 2 teams in.



So, the Committee gets 5 spots taken out of their hands.
They get to decide the 6th spot for the G5 team thru their rankings.
And the last 2 spots, they can do what they want.



Simple.

Tell me how it's all fucked up.

I'm a fan of win and you're in. I've asked it several times...what is the point of winning your conference if it doesn't lead to a playoff spot?

Fair enough. I still don't buy the well that's how they do it over here argument. Div. 1 football stands alone. There are too many Div. 1-A teams as far as Im concerned anyway.

Same as my criteria for the 4 team. If it's 4 teams, give me the 4 best teams regardless of conference, if it's 8 teams, give me the 8 best teams regardless of conference.
