i cant believe the fins are so dumb to tank for a brittle college qb.....take chase young first and then go after a qb in round 2 or 3

Well, no skin off my back if they take Tua. Bengals will be happy.

The real dummies in all of this look like the Steelers though... Big Ben is not getting younger.

I question if Tua would be my selection period. Is Burrow coming out this year?

They could take a QB but they don't have to take him at #1 and tbh isn't Tua's stock kinda going down. They need to improve in so many areas they need to go BPA at every draft pick at this point...they have a couple 1st's so maybe they go QB with that 2nd 1st rounder...but that will likely be a late 1st rounder. I think taking Tua at #1 would be a big mistake but who knows with the Dolphins, they could pass on a QB this year and wait for the next class which will have Lawrence and Fields in it.

He is a senior, I'm not sure what his draft stock is at this point but I'm sure it's rising quick

Lawrence stock has dropped quite a bit, hes struggled this year.

He's impressed me. Sometimes it takes multiple years to develop, I like the kid myself.

Yeah at least he has another year though. The main concern for Tua is injuries, seems like he can't take a hit...very doubtful a team would chance him at #1 let alone top 10 but haven't paid much attention to the mocks this year yet

burrow is lighting up college, but he still is only maybe creeping into late round 1 discussion.

EDIT: i see some analysts that had all these questions on him, now have him #1 overall, question that quite a bit

i mean mcshay now has him at 6 but listen to his comment

“It wouldn’t shock me with the way he’s playing,” McShay said on College Football Live when asked about a first-round opportunity. “ I’m going to be honest, this is a guy who I had a game live last year, watched a lot of tape of him and thought he was more of a day-three player, someone you can bring in would have to fight for a No. 3 job.”

i mean, what does that mean? hes playing well? but u didnt think he was good, now because he has stats you jumped him to #6. Hawaii qb's have stats too

I don't have insider anymore so I can only see 1 and 2...

Kiper's 2020 NFL draft Big Board rankings: How high could Joe Burrow go?

1. Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama*
HT: 6-foot-1 | WT: 218 | Previously: 2

Kiper's Big Board: Top 25 prospects »
McShay's updated Top 32 rankings »
Ranking the top QBs in the 2020 class »

Tagovailoa is my new top prospect, but he has had the same grade as the next two guys over the past few months. It's really tight at the top. The lefty is completing 73.6% of his passes -- up from 69% -- with 27 touchdowns and only one interception this season. He's averaging 11 yards per attempt, and his 96.1 Total QBR ranks first in FBS. He has been tremendous and even more efficient than his stellar 2018. Tagovailoa has elite accuracy and great footwork, and his arm strength looks improved in his second season as the full-time starter. I'm already circling Nov. 9 on my calendar -- that's LSU at Bama. Can't wait to see Tagovailoa and Joe Burrow on the same field.

2. Chase Young, DE, Ohio State*
HT: 6-foot-5 | WT: 265 | Previously: 3

Sometimes we hype up prospects before the season, and then they're slow to make an impact. Not Young. He has 8.5 sacks in six games, and those numbers don't show his full dominance. Just watch the tape from Ohio State's big win over Miami (Ohio), in which he had two strip sacks, and the Redhawks' offensive tackles had no chance to stop him. The NFL loves twitchy edge rushers who can get after quarterbacks, and that's Young. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go off the board first in April. He caught my eye as a true freshman in 2017, and he really came on last season, picking up the production with Nick Bosa sidelined. Young finished with 9.5 sacks and 14.5 total tackles for loss in 2018.

I am not a draft guru at all. I mean I dont pay attention until it gets close to the draft. I wont be offended if I were considered clueless when it comes to the draft.
but my question I raise is this.
Tua has been assumed to be the #1 pick for a long time.
He is a QB, which is often times associated with #1 picks.
He plays for Alabama which is considered the best long time standing team in college.

What are the chances his hype is more than the player?
People check off all these types of boxes & say yep. He has to be the #1 guy.
To those that might study these players (I know some of you do this). Is he really that good or a product of the team he plays for?
He might turn out to be a good player in the NFL, but what if his film doesnt say he is #1 overall quality?
1st is there any validity to this?
& 2nd will whoever gets the #1 pick fall for the hype vs. what they see on tape?

Thoughts?
