If all these players retired today and were eligible for the Hall of Fame and you got to fill a ballot (up to 5 players), who would be the 5 players you voted for?
It was actually harder than I expected to only choose 5. My fifth slot was a debate between Kershaw and Scherzer. I think they both deserve it, but if it comes down to just one or the other than it's a tough debate.I think Trout has to play a couple more seasons before he's eligible, but if he gets 10 years of service time, he'll probably be the second unanimous player(I still say it's a joke that the first ever unanimously elected player was a closer).
These are the active HOF locks IMO:
Max Scherzer
Clayton Kershaw
Mike Trout
Albert Pujols
Justin Verlander
Miguel Cabrera
CC Sabathia
There's several others that have a shot too.

The top 3 has to be
Trout, Pujols and Kershaw...
Haha, that could indeed be the reason! I thought Miggy, Pujols, Trout and JV were the easy choices. But as I said before I think Kershaw and Scherzer both easily do deserve the HOF. Just hard to decide if I could only pick one.Was going to comment on how Kershaw is the easy pick of the 3 pitchers and then it was hard to decide between Verlander and Scherzer...
But then I realized you are a tigers fan... so You have SOME Blinders on for Verlander...
Pujols, Cabrera and CC. If Trout's career ended today, he wouldn't be eligible.
Only player on the list who doesn't even belong on the list is Madison Bumgarner
His gets overvalued simply because of that one postseason run...
take away that ONE month from his resume, and he is not even a top 100 SP of all time...
is there a 10 season rule??
It was more than just one postseason run. I don't think he's a HOFer, but if Jack Morris is in, MadBum is better than Jack Morris, and that includes the postseason.
is he better than Morris?? sure his overall stats are better... But Bummy doesn't have the longevity of Morris... Also, Morris did better in the CY voting than Bummy…
and Morris had 2 seasons of 20+ wins, compared to bummy's 0... I would easily say Morris had the better CY resume than Bummy…
All bummy had was one month...
and Morris had some pretty good post season numbers too...

A little too young to remember Game 7 in 91'? Or did you just block it from your memory?
I was born in 91. And Morris was great, but the overall career postseason numbers favor MadBum.
Ok. As tough as it might be for a Braves fan, you have to watch that whole game, because Smoltz was just as good through his 8 innings. It's a game in which everyone was drained from beating each other up. I was 8 years old and I still was intensely into it.
I've watched a replay of the game on MLB Network. Great pitching all around in that game, but when it was 20 something years after the fact and you already know the outcome, it takes the intensity out of it.
