How is that even remotely considered cherry picking. That doesn’t even make sense
this is the last time I am going to try this. they play against the toughest guys, the big meanies, and they are prone to be injured more as a direct result of that. hence why there is a larger ratio.
Centers dont have to run out and get to a monster, they have their own giants to contend with. They are alos in charge of more responsibility on the field and for the line in general.
If you cant at least acknowledge that there might be some reason to that, I dont know what to tell you. Its not like the DE are the biggest, or strongest, but definitely more athletic. I was just making a point, not trying to argue. thats what an exchange of ideas is about. but continue projecting your rage for others on me.

One comment on yours since you specified 43 DEF...shouldn't MLB be a little higher maybe with your scheme? That's a lot of ground to cover.

Mine

1. QB
2. LT
3. Edge rusher
4. DT
5. CB1
6. ILB
7. CB2
8. WR1
9. WR2
10. SS

Center didn’t make his top 10

Why can’t you be honest. I said almost verbatim... Centers never go in the 1st round. There has been only 3 in the last 5 years like Fredricks.

Heres the offensive line statistics for the last 5 drafts

T 106 (18 1st 16%)
G 61 (4 1st 6%)
C 32 (5 1st 15%)

Center positions don't open up on teams as often and its usually harder to play(depends on the offensive scheme). I agree that LT is the most important position on the line because they protect the QB from getting hit from behind, but in addition to blocking the center has to handle snaps short and long, call changes for the line, and identify blitz packages.

I do think Center deserves more love. As a Browns fan Alex Mack was highly pivotal to that unit. Granted it would've been nice to have receivers that didn't kill people driving drunk, become sex offenders, or smoke themselves out of the league....oh and qb

Wait what was my point?

Oh yea Centers.... Definitely important

Oh i was hoping you were going to say guard.

Side note, out of all those tackles that get drafted, i wonder how many of them end up not making the team, or ending up on practice squads? Maybe teams are just hoping to get more effective players based on measurables, and seeing if they can develop them at the next level. I dont know, and would be interested.

I think what you see is teams can't afford to pay high dollar for both tackles so they're constantly looking for the replacement at RT later in drafts and obviously LT tends to be highly sought out earlier in the draft

But I say that to say it seems to me that after LT once teams find a good center they tend to hang on to them. I think arguing importance to a team as to drafting tendencies are two different things.

I know I didn't directly answer your question but to me center is the second most important OL position.

I think it goes deeper than this if you have a great GM, Coach, and QB you will forever be a consistent winner

I don’t understand these numbers at all.
If there were 5 centers drafted in the first round over the last 5 years what is the 15% mean? 5 out of 160 picks isn’t 15%
