It all depends on the draft. The Heat had no titles before they drafted wade. That led them to add Lebron and Bosh. Without drafting wade, Lebron and Bosh likely never go there, and they have 0 championships. Drafting and getting lucky is what leads to winning championships. GS never would have got Durant If they didn't draft very well with Curry, Green, Thompson.

It still comes down to hitting a HR for the majority of the teams through the draft.

Lastly, the Warriors were as lucky winning that ring as Toronto was this year. When 2 of your best players go down with injury that is pretty lucky, sure beats a 1 game suspension of Green imho

Also, some teams owners are content on just making money and won't spend what is needed in order to win, as it is still just a business. They could care less about winning as long as they can keep getting fans to buy in, watch and go to the games. Kinda explains why the Knicks have been so bad for so long.

the unbelievable confluence of circumstances and luck that brought the Warriors their titles is just crazy when you think about it--- especially the Durant signing.

And of course, the only championship that was without Durant which is probably the luckiest championship in the modern NBA.

if you guys didnt defend the actions of an idiot i wouldnt be telling you how dumb riley has been since LeBron left. Honestly I cannot possibly understand how you defend his terrible managing over the last few years.

Whiteside was a disaster signing. TJohnson was an atrocious signing that you had to take Anderson to get rid of. JJohnosn was an atrocious signing. Dragic has never won you anything, hes starting to get injury prone and you owe a totally unprotected pick out for him still. You turned down FOUR FIRST ROUNDERS from Boston for the pick that became Justice Winslow. Waiters has been hurt and inconsistent- just as he always has been. Olnyk is of no consequence.

I make fun of how bad Riley's decisions have been because they have been absolute shit.

If Jimmy Butler goes out and wins them a playoff series and they are competitive in the 2nd round ill be the first to tell you my bad--- but i just dont see that happening--- if you would like to be otherwise, you know wher to find me.

what what cracks me up so much when tlance talks about how Miami doesnt need the draft--- the only sustained portion of success in the history of their franchise was based off of sucking and drafting Wade.

And its really what the Cavs have to do....you just gotta hit one guy in the draft that becomes a big time player. Just one. If another guy becomes great- hey, so much hte better, but you just gotta hit one big time player, and then manuever through draft and trades to fill out the rest and you can have a nice period of sustained success, and with the right opportunistic moves and a little luck you can win a title like Toronto just did.
