Fresh off a year where he missed a quarter of the season and then averaged 2.1 yards per carry in the playoffs.

If I'm the Chargers, I tell him to go kick rocks.

Worthless. Guy has played 16 games only once in 4 seasons and has a high water mark of 1100 yards. What in the hell makes him think he deserves more money?

I wouldn't say worthless.

2016 - Pro Bowl - 1400 total yards 12 TD's
2017 - 1600 total yards 12 TD's
2018 - Pro Bowl - 1400 total yards 14 TD's

It depends on how much money he is looking for. If he is looking to be a top 5 paid RB...go take a hike. He isn't productive/healthy enough to be in that conversation.

I would give him $6-7M a year but since he will be making $5.6M this year I'm thinking he wants at least $10-12M and long-term. No thanks.

Most I would do is maybe like 3 yr $27M

He's been quoted many times as following the Bell cases in previous years. And he's good friends with Lev. Wouldn't be surprised to see him follow those footsteps.

Just move on from him. Spend that money/hassle on your QB and in the trenches

If you start in the NFL, you matter, but some positions are easier to replace production than others...RB is one of those positions.

100%

You can pick bodies in the mid rounds every year.

Contracts mean nothing anymore. It’s why Paul George is a Clipper, why Anthony Davis is a Laker, Antonio Brown is a Raider, Le’Veon Bell is a Jet.

Holding out and demanding a trade is the new normal for pro athletes.

And if they under perform, their contract is just fine.......

This years Le'veon Bell?

He's not even the only RB this yr...Duke Johnson, CLE wants out, Trent Williams LT (WAS) wants a new deal, Julio (ATL), the CB from DEN...this is going to continue...especially when top players exhaust all the contractual guaranteed money and they are still top players...they're not playing without a cash parachute.

True only it's not new, not in the NFL.

Not new but a lot more common now.

Any player with star power has the leverage to piss on that contract and get more money or a new team out of it. In some cases they even get to pick the team they get traded to as well.

Yeah, they may not be as good, but put them behind a good OL and they will give you production. If your LT wants more money and he's a stud...you pay attention...if his claim is legit and he's underpaid, you gotta pay him.

The new part is we're seeing it from top players still in their prime. In years passed we'd see Montanta suit up for KC, or Emmit Smith leave the Cowboys and go to AZ, and Randy Moss go to OAK and NE, etc. but they were at the end of their prime for certain.

This is why you never give in to players demands. Let them keep sitting out. Eventually they will lose and every other player will see it. When you let players strong arm you, you just ensure that every future player will do the same. Team>Player.
