Why not fire him now?

For the simple fact they would have to find a replacement right in the middle of the draft and right before FA. That is just more disaster waiting. That isn't happening anyway.

That would be kind of funny if he did get fired today though.

I'd take my chances, it isn't like there aren't others who can pick up the slack. You could hire a consultant in the meantime as well. Teams don't have just one person doing the job of drafting and trading, this is really a non issue.

Disagree. Assuming it really was a mistake by the Lakers, it can be offset by the fact that they still won the trade. Firing him now, just creates more turmoil than they need when trying to land FA's.

I would love for them to hire someone more experienced as a consultant though. If they did that, it would help Pelinka tremendously and could help to prevent future mistakes.

Yeah, I think Pelinka can actually be a good GM. But he has a lot to learn still. I really wish they would hire a consultant though.

Consultants are only effective if the decision makers actually listen to them.

I could be wrong, but I do not have a lot of confidence in Pelinka's willingness to do that.

They gotta go somewhere now. It's a fact now that the AD trade will done on July 6th. The pathway to 30+ mil in cap space means they gotta go. Whether its to those teams or not, they gotta go.

I’ve always advocated for the Clippers to move to Seattle but damn the Lakers are a dumpster fire in the FO, maybe a change of scenery for them would do the trick.

Me either. He's a smart guy, but is he smart enough to know he has a lot to learn?

You want to change GMs in the middle of their biggest trade in recent history? In favor of whom?

Yes, he isn't making trades on an island, other staff was involved and they can complete the deal.

I'm available.
