Played the free weekend and loved it. I'll purchase at some point. Especially since they're adding NPCs.

I haven’t heard anything about this since the first month or so. I guess they have ironed out the wrinkles?

Last weekend it was free to play, they probably wanted a large influx of players to see how the servers would handle it and to see if anything needs to be patched up before they start expanding/adding to the game.

I'm guessing the game now is light years better than it was upon release.

I an not super familiar with the pre-FO3 games, I have dabbled with them. Wasn’t one of the main characters in FO2 a ghoul?

I decided to give the game a look since it was on sale on Steam fir $10 a few weeks back And what little I hear about it nowadays is mostly positive.

I am not yet 24 hours in (they have mini quests/achievements based on hours played), but I am pleasantly surprised so far. Players pretty much stay to themselves.

Griefing doesn’t appear to be an issue. But part of that is because they have removed quite a bit of building functionality. For example, you only have a single storage space, which is limited by weight. Storage and organization has always been a HUGE aspect of my game. I have one container for my hunting rifles. I have another for my Raider armor. Another for my leather armor. 10mm pistols. Etc, etc, etc…. This way I know what I have and I can “build” my character based on my inventory. Not being to view my stuff this way makes the “hoarder” in my very upset. AND…. The weight capacity of the storage container is WAY too low (1200 lbs). In FO4, that was regularly my haul for a single excursion. Breaking down junk helps, but I don’t like breaking down weapons or armor. I like to collect/sell that.

Weapon/mod functionality sucks (it seems, I am still learning). In FO4, you would essentially have a “chassis” that you would add components to. Remove a modded sight, replace it with a standard sight and you can add the modded sight to another like-chassis. Now you just mod the chassis. Again, I am still playing with this system, but so far I don’t like it. I like having the add/remove functionality so I can strip down my chassis to the bae model when comparing which chassis to use, than slapping my mod build onto that chassis.

May have to pick this back up:

The link looks broken. Was there an announcement about a change? I am still currently playing this one. It is my current game of choice (still hate the storage limitations, but I am trying to deal…)

Just looked it up…

Releasing The Pitt. That was a DLC for FO3, but I don’t remember the specifics of it.

Meh. They need to solve the storage issue (I know isn’t a hardware issue since they basically allow you to buy yourself out of the problem with a monthly subscription that costs more than I paid for the game itself)

Lenny, he is a doctor.

Not a companion but Harold the ghoul shows up in 1-3. He has a tree growing out of his head, it has over taken his entire body by the third game.

I havent played Fallout 76 can someone tell me the difference between fallout 76 and a regular fall out game? I know that it is an online game but I really enjoyed fallout for its story telling and roaming different areas and exploring alone or maybe with a companion. I would imagine online would just be chaos people running around with a ton of armor, riding death claws throwing explosives everywhere.

The map is massive, and I think they limit the number of players per server to maybe 20 or so. You will cross paths with other players, but it is rare and griefing doesn’t exist. In fact, the community is surprisingly VERY civil. Players go around giving gifts to everyone. Very odd.

My MAIN gripe is storage. You have 1 container, and it is VERY limited (1200 pounds) unless you pay $13 a month and you get a second container that only holds “junk” and it has a much larger limit (not certain the exact limit there).

My second gripe, which is more and more getting on my nerves, is that vendors have their caps reset every irl 24 hours rather than every game 24 hours. Further, all vendors share the same cap-pool and when you buy something, only a portion of the caps you spent are put back into that pool.

Third, and I don’t know how global of an issue this is, but every once in a while, the game will lock up for about 5-10 minutes. Typically is when I am either in the vendor screen or at a crafting station. The game still goes on (vendors continue talking, the radio continues playing, stuff is still happening in the periphery), but the game won’t react to any inputs whatsoever (controller, mouse, keyboard). This only happens once or twice a day, but it is frustrating.

I see so in this game are there missions for you to go and do and communicate with NPC? Are all the classic monsters there like Deathclaws and ghouls? Do you get to have an NPC friend that follows you around like your dog? sorry I have a million questions.

NPCs exist. They didn’t exist upon launch, but they have been added. And yes, you have missions. Shit tons of missions.

most of the classic mobs exist. And some “new” ones as well (the canon explanation is there were many immediate mutations that didn’t last to the time frame of the earlier games). This game takes place not long after the bombs dropped.

You have access to allies, but they stay at your C.A.M.P. And you can only have 1 at a time.

Cal hit most of the main points. If you enjoyed Fallout 4 you'll enjoy this one. Getting into the game now vs 2018 when it first came out is like night and day. They've added so much and refined a lot of the initial problems. You'll have a lot of fun exploring, leveling up etc.

Storage is a pain in the ass. I am soooo pissed at the changes they made in this area.
